I believe that a human life is priceless.
So you live at a subsistence level and work overtime to help save human life. You know the whole you can save a life in a third world country for the price of a cup of coffee.

No?

I thought so. It's just words.

I remember making the first thread about this. “What happened when these wake you up a 3am”?

A lot didn’t think it would happen much it wouldn’t be a problem. I wonder their opinion now. LOL

Sorry I am 100% at the other end of this one.

Maybe I can get back to sleep easier than most not sure but these alerts do not bother me for even a second.

I always imagine being the parent of the missing child and what they must be going through.

Based on this thread my opinion/feeling is unpopular but I will take the interruption if it saves even one child. I get that we are in the GTA (most of us) and this alert was from the Ottawa area but really it only takes four hours to drive here from Ottawa someone could easily have friends or family here.

Anyway sorry for those who don't like the alerts
Not Necessarily unpopular but some of these alerts are not needed in all places. For Ottawa to Toronto - ok - I can give you that. But ThurderBay???? Kitchener? Niagara Falls? Sault Ste Marie? Barrie?

Some of these places don’t need it at 4am. If you calculate drive, then do one province wide a couple hours later but start with it in your local and outlying area.

It makes no sense to disrupt and really piss off a bunch of people you want looking for the child.

I heard buying a smartphone from the US allows you to turn off these alerts.
Smartphones sold in Canada dont have this option.
I havent tried it yet myself so I cant say for 100% sure that it works

Trenton, former home of the Yankees double-A team. As of right now, their last game there is July 4th.
Does Trenton share their stadium or do they get booted as well?

There are about 14 million people in Ontario. They all lose 1 hour sleep because they were woken up by the Amber Alert, on the chance that maybe 1 person has info that could lead to the rescue of an abducted child. Typically, if an abductee is not found within 48 hours, they will not be found alive. So, time is crucial. They can't wait until 10 AM when most people are awake. One child's life is worth more than 14 million hours of lost sleep. I can't explain it any simpler than that.
In your opinion.

There is nothing wrong with making it regional. And then extending it to further locations as they update the alert.

It is then a win - win for everyone.

As I said, people in ThunderBay are not going to be able to help in any capacity. Why should they be disrupted and as pointed out, be fatigued and possibly cause an accident because of it?
