I'm thinking of upgrading and updating my current puny webmarketing effort, which consists of a small website from 2003 and a Yellow Pages online entry. Neither of these are much use.

I am considering having a large website with a blog component. I am interested in reading any studies of best marketing practices and Google and other search engine placement strategies.

Are there useful guides either in print or online which can educate me, so I can usefully discuss these issues with salespeople and techies?

Thanks.

There is so much online to guide you on internet marketing. I'd suggest simply googling "How to market your law practice online"

So very much depends on what kind of practice you have and what purpose you want your website to serve.

If it is indeed marketing, meaning finding new clients then it matters what areas you practice in.

Criminal law is largely reactionary and needs always-on marketing. Believe it or not, craigslist is big for lawyers.

Family law or personal injury requires different approaches.

One thing though is it doesn't have to be "big" just clear and informative.

Here is a website for a lawyer that I have used and highly recommend

Maybe you can get some ideas.

Almost everything was done online, I went to the lawyer's office once to sign the paperwork. I was there for only 5 minutes.
