This is why Macron is fighting against Islamists in France, French are fed up with the politically correct bullshit.

Marine Le Pen Vows to Ban Hijab, 'Murderous Islamist Ideologies' as She Scores Record High in Polls

France is preparing to hold presidential elections in April 2022 that will probably see harsh competition between incumbent President Emanuel Macron and his 2017 rival Marine Le Pen. Four years ago, the President of the National Rally decisively lost to Macron in the second round.
French politician and presidential candidate Marine Le Pen proposed to ban “Islamist ideologies” during a press conference on Friday, the plan that would also include a restriction on hijab-wearing in all public places, France 24 reports.
The 52-year-old politician, who leads France’s National Rally party, told reporters that Muslim headscarves should be considered “an Islamist item of clothing”, as she unveiled a plan to outlaw “totalitarian and murderous” ideologies related to Islamic fundamentalism.
Her words come after an online poll from Harris Interactive published on Wednesday suggested that if the final run-off of French presidential elections, currently scheduled for April 2022, were held today, Le Pen would gain 48% of the votes in comparison to Macron’s 52% - the most support the conservative politician has had in the past years.
The survey was conducted among 1,403 people over 18 years of age, the majority of which are registered electoral voters.

In 2017, the National Rally president received 7.6 million votes in comparison to Marcon’s 8.6 million in the first round of the presidential election. However, no candidate managed to gain 50% support to be proclaimed the French president. In the runoff election, Le Pen lost to Marcon with only 34% of the vote.

But Le Pen’s anti-immigration rhetoric received a new wave of attention last year following the death of French teacher Samuel Paty, who was brutally beheaded in October 2020 by an Islamist terrorist of Chechen origin. The act was inspired by Paty’s decision to show his students caricatures of Islamic prophet Muhammad during a freedom of expression class. The cartoons in question were first published in Charlie Hebdo magazine in 2012, generating profound condemnation throughout the Islamic world, which considers them blasphemous. Several years later, 12 people were killed and many more injured in a shooting attack at Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris by terrorists claiming their allegiance to al-Qaeda*.

Following the teacher’s murder in October, Macron slammed “a typical Islamist terrorist attack”, while hailing Paty as a “quiet hero” Paty who “incarnated the Republic” and “was killed for teaching children freedom of speech”. But the president’s position has produced a reverse reaction from Muslim leaders around the world, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who called the state of Macron’s mental health into question.

it will work to get her elected. but it won't work as a law. if it's ever passed, there will be crazy protesting and/or a handful of terrorist attacks.

the muslims of france aren't as soft as the jews of 1940 germany.

I don't if they're going to go that far if it happens. But the the French are not as soft as the ones during second world war either.

She will have to rise a huge amount in polls to win. That she might get to the run off two elections in a row would be a really bad sign about the shift in French politics, but once in the runoff, I see much the same thing happening as last time - everyone coming together to vote against the Rally.

Yep, that's how the free societies fade.

With the rise of xenophobic nationalists who lean towards fascism? Very true.
It's nice to be in agreement on something.

They fade when the "leaders" fail to see the consequences of their actions or inactions. So now, initiatives like curbing personal freedoms find a lot of support when a decade ago they were unthinkable. I don't blame Le Penn at all.

I don't care what color you are, what is your religion, which one of the 20 genders you are, gay, straight or both, etc. However, I do insist that you do the following:

1) Obey our very reasonable laws.
2) Work hard
3) Study hard

BTW: Chopping off people's heads is really not nice.

Of course you don't.
Because I'm a fairly intelligent and observant individual, unencumbered by biases. LePenn has been standing on the same issues for the last two decades and never close to power. What will propel her to power will be the policies of her opposition. She didn't change, the policies of the previous governments caused the electorate to change. That's what you get when you give uncritical support to harmful actions based on nothing but ideology and wishful thinking. Sooner or later it is bound to blow up right in your own face.

That she hasn't changed her positions doesn't make them suddenly less vile.

LePenn hasn't changed. What has changed (and I think she forecast it) are all the dead French bodies slayed at the hands of Islamic terrorists. Also, chopping off people's heads is really not very nice.

This is why there is a move towards the right. French are tired of their streets blocked down with Muslims praying in the streets and those terroristic murders at Charlie Hebdo, people being run over by trucks and yes teachers being decapitated. Years ago Briget Bardot spoke up and Libtards shouted her down.
