How did you arrive at doubling it and giving them 300 hrs ?
It doesn't sound like you've ever spent anytime in Jail, based on how quick you are to dole it out.

No, but I do remember seeing kids bullied in school and being one of them when transferring to a new school into Gr. 5, kids can be pretty damn cruel.
Imagine a young teenage girl? Her confidence is about as fragile as a fine piece of china.
These punks pushed her to the edge, so I could give a fuck if I've been in jail or not, these kids will not get ENOUGH of it to remind them of what exactly they had done.......push a girl into killing herself.

Hey Northpole

I know who doesn't think the sentence is enough:
Phoebe's parents!
Phoebe's younger sister who found her hanging in a closet!
Phoebe's extended family!

Are you aware that her family buried her back in Ireland? Do your own research as to why.

Was justice served? Absolutely not, Phoebe will never:
have another birthday.
turn sweet sixteen.
go to prom.
graduate.
attend university.
have a career.
fall in love, walk down the aisle or start a family.

Why because some psychopathic and sociopathic teenagers pushed her to the point that she didn't want to live any longer regardless of any depression illnesses she had beforehand. Hollywood makes movies about this sort of thing all the time:
Carrie 1976, she may have been a witch, but she was bullied brutally.
Mean Girls
Bring it on
Cruel Intentions

These bullies will go on as nothing ever happened, quite possibly get name changes so that nobody knows who they are. While Phoebe rots in the ground, and her family is left to try and pick up the pieces of their lives.

Northpole, you feel differently if this happened to someone you cared about!

Have you ever been in prison, jail or detention? Have you ever been employed in one? Do you know anything except of which you would see on OZ?:hand:

BTW since when is the point of the sentencing hard to deter others? Is that even ethical, to overly punish one person to justify in some warped way that it deters others?
you think that's warped? Ontario Court of Appeal says (about drinking and driving):
It is true that many of those convicted of these crimes have never been convicted of other crimes and have good work and family records. It can be said on behalf of all such people that a light sentence would be in their best interests and be the most effective form of rehabilitation. However, it is obvious that such an approach has not gone any length towards solving the problem. In my opinion, these are the very ones who could be deterred by the prospect of a substantial sentence for drinking and driving if caught. General deterrence in these cases should be the predominant concern...
