Is there a slowdown? Will rates come down?

I don’t have a lot of evidence but it’s a lot easier to book girls lately and there are a lot fewer review posts. A lot of the girls also seem to spend more of the days just bored.

Is there a slowdown? It would make sense given how crap the economy is, how high unemployment is. Everything is more expensive and fewer people have jobs and money.

Rates for SPs have gone up with everything else going up.

Is it slow now? Would rate cuts even matter or is one of those “necessary splurges” like Starbucks or weed where they can kind of charge anything and people will find a way to come up with the money?

August was the busiest summer month for me with the longest appointments times booked.

It was also the highest turn down rate. Meaning I could have made more but I declined visits. More then the last 6 months.

Don't know if this helps you at all but these are my numbers.

SP rates will not go down. You may see a special but once an escort has set rates, they never go down.

This does seem to feel like a much needed expense for men. They may not do it as much as they want during hard times but they find a way to do it when the pressure builds too much. So a client may go fro weekly to bi-weekly. Monthly to quarterly , etc. For every old client slowing down, a new client is starting up.

Its slowing down. Im sure some boot licker is going to hop on here and act like its not but we're basically in a recession.

When I see people stop travelling to the area and women who are regularly in the area disappearing and moving on to better places.

The nearest city to me is pretty rough though. I dont live there but its ROUGH so I guess it really depends on the economy and the local economy too.

I think potential clients recognize this and the cheap demanding requests outnumber the legitimate ones, for me anyway. I left the area that im from and am starting all over again from scratch and there are a lot of days I wish I had never left. I dont have to advertise where im from. I can just go to the grocery store and someone will see me and book me lol people see me and know I'm legit and Ive had clients there for close to a decade.

Here though...in a new place, starting over. Its gross. People are rude, demanding, cheap. People generally repeat but putting up with the abuse is too much.

I offered a special because times are tough for a lot of people. I enjoy pleasing people and I enjoy massage. Other girls messaged me and called me everything you could imagine for cutting people a break on rates.

I think people aren't as busy as they would like to be and theyre blaming each other. Theyre blaming workers who charge lower rates and get consistent income because theyre not getting the higher rates that they want.

Im not talking about top earners and the advertisers here. My phone is full of abusive texts from other workers, girls are fake booking each other and causing drama all day. They're not busy and they're blaming each other and not the economy.

To expand on someone else's comment. I was always taught to offer rates for everyone so I see both sides. For some people its great and for others life is a constant struggle and they budget everything to spoil themselves once a month or once very few months. I had a client who would only see me on his birthday but then I also had people who would see me once, twice or even 3 times a week.

I would like to think everyone is rich and can afford it but some people go into debt or have to make sacrifices for it and in this economy I think people are cutting it out of their budget until things are more certain.

Hairstylists / beauty industry people and tattoo artists are in the same position when the economy is not great. Women stop getting their hair done as often. They get "recession roots". Its a great time to get deals but these deals also mean that business is struggling.

Im lucky that I dont put all of my eggs in one basket and I budget money well but I would not want to be a travelling worker right now. Expenses are high and I dont think money is great. Im not seeing the same people travelling to the area anymore.

Less competition doesn't make me happy, it makes me worried. If people are skipping my city it tells me its not worth stopping in.

It is. The last few years were and the next ones will be survival to the fittest.

I dont really see it home because I just see 1/2 person a day but I was in Mississauga this weekend and besides my regulars and 1 new clients my phone was dead. Like dead. It was relaxing lol but its definitely not how it used to be.

Will the price go down? It never did. Always went up in history.

I didn't think to compare yearly.

Last year was down in August compared to this year, but I don't know how many days I actually worked to properly compare each month since I always go away to the trailer often in the summer.

I stopped touring in 2023 so I made much more in August that year because I was working more.

Like you, I'm only a couple clients a day at most. So for someone who travels, income would naturally be down based on higher hotel costs, I just don’t know the call volume.

My reg/new client ratio is about the same as usual monthly for the last year.

I would be interested to see what some of my other tour locations would be bringing in now compared to two years ago. I'm still adjusting to non touring numbers. But touring each year was up from 2021 to 2022 to 2023. I only have last year to compare at home numbers.

Yeah it’s funny re rates though. Reducing rates is a time-honored way to boost demand. If clients aren’t coming because they don’t have the money, presumably lower costs would drive activity.

TBH I don’t care - it’s nice to be able to book who I want when I want, although I’ve probably been overindulging of late.

Just wondering how this weird industry will react to what looks like a permanent economic malaise, especially in Canada by all numbers.

There has been a general economic slowdown, already discussed in another thread somewhere on this board. In general, when all prices go up and there's (some) economic uncertainty the first cut back is in indulgences and taking care of things at home. People will cut back on restaurants, movies, night's out, etc including seeing SPs. For those that have managed their money, this is less of a detriment but they'll still do occasional financial reviews to be certain of the finances and cash flow. And if they find their financial wellbeing is okay then those people will start spending money while others will cut back especially on the most expensive indulgences and for some that means reducing how often they see SPs.
When the "economy slows", everybody feels it in some way, companies and individuals, no matter who they are.

It’ll be almost impossible to speak for the entire population but I’ve noticed demand generally decline, and so has the number of girls working. If you’re able to pick and choose now, it’s likely because you’re using agencies or girls with fake profiles on Leolist.

When I visit a provider, I can tell how many visitors she’s had by looking in the trash can. Let me just say, they’ve been way more on the empty side lately.

I’ve also seen providers create new profiles to lower their rates because they want to save face.

The current economy is very painful for most people because there’s so much uncertainty.

Will rates come down? Yes. Current overnight rate at the time of this writing is 2.75%. We should see a cut at the next announcement and probably another in October. Following the US, we should see interest rates come down significantly by middle of next year and probably money printing. But the long term treasuries like 10 year bond yield which determines your fixed mortgage will go up because inflation will climb significantly.

I can only speak for myself as a client. This downturn has impacted the frequency of monthly visits, the price range that I am comfortable with and decreased my tolerance to visit a new lady as I don't want to waste my time and money on a meh experience.

That said the GTA is flush with gents with close to unlimited funds and immune to the variance of the market.

I don't see rates dropping. But agencies will fold, some laides will eave the industry or adjust to having more free time to do other things. And ladies who provide great service will continue to be busy.

To add another anecdote to this thread, I saw an agency girl yesterday. I was the last call on her shift; she mentioned that all her other prebooks ended up cancelling and the girl she was sharing the condo with had no calls during her shift.

The Canadian economy shed 66,000 jobs in August; an interest rate cut from the Bank of Canada (which lowers the price of money in order to stimulate economic activity) later this month is very likely:

Jobs report 'cements' Fed rate cut this month: Earl Davis

All those Mortgages that were taken out during the Covid years at 2.xx% are now rolling over closer to 4.00%, which is impacting monthly cashflow. Between that, guys getting laid off, and guys afraid of getting laid off, there is less money being spent on all types of luxuries, including sex workers.

Speaking of luxuries, I got an invite in the mail to the Blue Jays new Home Plate Terrace Club - starting at close to $20,000/seat. Maybe ladies need to start hanging out around the SkyDome area, at that is where the money is going to be! :p

I was always under the impression that during an economic downturn more talent enters the industry. To me, there doesn’t seem to be as many new girls listed at agencies.
Are new girls preferring sugar dating sites? Have price decreased there?

My hot take; new girls (particularly in their 20's who need money for school) are going on OnlyFans instead.

It's a different form of sex work; it pays in USD; and it doesn't involve having to meet strangers to exchange sex for money. She can just create content with her BF and then put it behind paywalls on the platform and sell it.

I've been doing this for nearly 20 years, and I can't seem to find the attractive 20-something year old who lives in her own apartment and meets guys to supplement her income on LeoList anymore.

Maybe those women are on the sugar dating sites.....I don't ever check those out, however.

I haven’t met any SPs who do OnlyFans, but almost every SP seems to also do sugar dating.

I can't speak for agencies, but I've personally noticed that the number of ladies on any given shift at some of the mainstream spas' has increased, which suggests more talent entering the industry. This is just my own observation, but I can't attribute it entirely to an economic downturn.

Then why do so many whinge here when rates go up, as recently happened at Secrets agency?
Because dudes are cheap sometimes. Others want to hobby but can't afford it.

I, as a hobbyist, have a budget. It isn't big. I have other priorities as well. It's literally to me a disposable income thing. But to some guys it's an addiction unfortunately. Or just a bad habit due to other things in their life making this their release. So any changes cause less hobbying causes complaining.

Nobody likes price hikes on anything. It's just human nature.

I was just complaining about the coffee price increase. I get why, I just don’t like it. No one likes a price hike.
