Is there a plumber/toilet expert in the house?

Many thanks, Schlong.

I think it was corrosion on the "big hole" [flush valve seat?]. I cleaned it as you suggested and I believe it is fine now!

I guess if a seal isn't tight, you will get vibration, just like a seal or washer in a faucet (if worn out, will cause that pipe-banging sound).

Used Canadian Drain and Plumbing 415-651-2990. The guy replaced the insides of the tank. Just under $400. Got him off the Internet. I tried to do it myself with Crappy Tire parts but it didn't work.

20 year old crapper - You may want to replace the whole thing with a water efficient toilet.

Ive used those replacement parts before and they tend to fail over time. You're better off replacing it considering its already 20 years old. Please do not call companies like Roto rooter for a simple job like a toilet repair. For what they charge you can buy a new one.

For $150 $200 you can buy a brand new high quality toilet ant Costco or Home Depot. It takes 15 minutes to change it. Save your money and don't call a plumber. It's 20 yrs old !

Costco one piece toilets are great. I think they're around $159.
It's a dual flush so you'll save on water.

A few years ago I ask my neighbor if he knew how to change a toilet. So, he buys a two piece toilet and brings his friend over. After many attempts the water kept leaking where the tank meets the bowl.

I finally told my neighbor the toilet was working fine and secretly called American Standard who sent a real plumber to fix the problem. Took him no more than 5 minutes.

If your toilet doesn't flush, take a pail of water and pour it in the bowl. It will flush then.

Question: Aren't single piece toilets hard to carry up and down stairs?

Sounds like the gasket was not positioned properly or the bolts were not tight enough.

A single piece toilet is easy to carry as the box has convenient hand slots on each side. I have placed a unit on top of the wax ring, so it is not that hard to work with.

I have a flutter in the flapper in my crapper...

I replaced the flapper because I thought it was leaking, but now it's worse and I can't figure out what causes it or how to fix it [btw, it is an American Standard toilet, about 20 years old]... it just shakes and vibrates!

I know it's a shitty kind of question, but there must be some shitty experts here?

just replace it.

you can get a complete basic toilet for $100 that is probably much more water economical than your current 20 yr old crapper.

for the cost of a plumber to assess and repair, or new parts it way cheaper to diy the toilet. youtube has loads of vids for the diy.
