I just realized that he's playing on par with Alexi Yashin, Sami Kapanen, Ray Whitney, etc..

Some may not want to hear it but the time has come to trade him while he has some value. If we can get some decent prospects and maybe a proven veteran it will free up some cap room for the off season. Pull the trigger now!

That's what i was thinking. :p He broke 100 points in a season how many times? Once, in his third year in the league and has only broken 90 once since. That isn't a great player in the NHL by any means and definetly not a top 20 player.

If being a top 20 player means cracking 90 or 100 points, then they would be almost all forwards, never a goalie and there is never 20 90 or 100+ point guys in a single season.

he is respected by most other players as one of the top players of his time. some analyst said he is, though not always in the top 20 scoring each season, he usually is in atleast the top 40, and is still regarded for being a great leader. only hockey fans from leafland would disagree.

I'm from this leaf land and I think its start to rebuilding....Trade Sundin and all with value...McCabe too maybe? I wish we had some young stud like an Ovechkin or a Phaneuf...But hey Telqvist and another prospect we have(Tuka Rast) are very promising thus I would also say to get ride of Belfour as well...

Considerring what he's had to work with..

Sundin has never been given the quality wingers a player of his caliber deserves...He's gotta produce points playing with stiffs like Domi and Kilger??...give me a break...and over the years, for some reason, Quinn has never been one to have a "stacked " line..putting his best point producers on one line...Sundin, when at his best, is a top 5 center in this league. I think this eye injury is more severe than is being let on...he hasn't found his stride since that injury. It may be a combination of the injury, and not playing last year..As a Leaf and Sundin fan, I only would want to see Sundin traded if it was to a cup contender..something that after tonight's fiasco, seems light years away for the Leafs. After the last Olympics, I recall Sundin coming back to league play and having a pretty strong run to the end of the season...We can only hope for the same this time..

bah screw him trade him to where you can get the best deal for him..If St.Louis made the first overall pick offer we'd take that in a second...Get ourselves an awesome defenseman or maybe phil kessel... LOL

Funny we were just talking about the same thing tonight. I say trade him or have him play on a decent line with some talent.
While we are at get rid of Quinn.

I don't consider Sundin to be a top 20 forward or player in the NHL, hence my comment. And i am not a Leaf fan by any means.
noticed I said "hockey fan" from "leaf land" not Leaf fan...;)

you're absolutely right... it is debatable rather Sundin is a top 20 or not, he is one of the best leaders in the game right now, though. he is well respected by other nhl'ers and that says more than how you or i feel about him.

did you notice how all the sundin fans aren't voicing anything...? there are some hidden voices here on terb that know a thing or 2 about hockey.

Sundin has never had any quality wingers in T.O....ever. Who has he played with? Hoglund, Renberg, Steve Thomas, Sergei Berezin, Chad Kilger, Tie Domi....Gary Roberts is good, but not a first line winger. And despite that he still manages a point per game.

Sundin was always one of the most overrated players in the league.

The Leafs are now chock full of waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many overrated bloated players. Sundin, Lindros, Allison, O'Neill, Antropov, and Klee to name a few. Belfour is not overrated and never was - in his henday (latter days in Chicago and first few years in Dallas) he was arguably the best in the league except, perhaps, Patrick Roy. These days Belfour just seems to have lost a step. Most telling fact was the Heatley goal the other night when he couldn't stretch out his left leg to stop a slow miss-hit puck and it dribbled in. 5-6 years ago he does the splits and gets that puck.
