Is OTB an immigration officer?

Last time I crossed the US border to go to the Mayo Clinic, I was given grief by
the US immigration officer, who asked me: "Why are you going there when you have
the worlds best [heavy sarcasm] health care system in Canada?" He then proceeded
to keep me for 5 minutes while he rifled through my wallet etc.

Seems a bit misguided, when both the Mayo clinic and the Cleveland Clinic have "sales" offices
in Toronto.

As much as I think he'd get off on the uniform, dark glasses and weapon somehow I doubt it. I had him down as an insurance executive.

You should have told the guy about the Toronto offices of the Mayo and that we still allow Fox news into Canada for shits and giggles. Oh ya and ask him whether his HMO would pay for the Mayo or does he have to go to Buffalo Memorial ( you know why they call it memorial don't you).

What was your answer, why would you need to leave the health care paradise in Canada?

It does not appear that he is serving the USA, if he is trying, on basis of his own political
views, to prevent US companies from getting business from overseas. Heaven knows that
the US needs foreign currency, although my meager contributions will matter little.

Because we can. I'd also go to Switzerland or Berlin if I needed to. But I'm lucky I can afford to.

The Mayo may be faster and better than the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga but I'd take the Trillium over anything in Buffalo any day of the week.

I didn't say he was serving well, that was a pretty obnoxious point he was making.... you didn't say how you responded?
