The truth of the matter is that the city runs itself and the mayor matters nought, except in terms of broad objectives. But I never understand why we need to keep going back to a prior administration- can we not just discuss the current one? Should we compare tory with eggleton? William lyon mackenzie? Could we not just focus on what tory has accomplished?

I agree with you and I don't.
...
I think (or hope) that you can get fiscally responsible without the crack head simpleton drama shit. Ford was (and is) a mad-man.

Okay, I concede that Ford is a pig and I concede that Ford is a retard; but, he's still a million times better than all the other politicians out there.:eyebrows:

The thing that makes Ford paradoxically brilliant is that he talks in a way that you can understand what he's talking about. With real bullet points.
He's a guy from street level that you can relate to.
The rest of them just talk meaningless generic, banal, soulless, system whoreologist talk; so, after listening to them for 10 minutes you don't have a clue what on earth they said.
And that's the effect they hope to generate since there's nothing inside of them anyway.

Except he is lying 99% of the time. Other politicians are only lying about 25% if the time. He is worse.
To me he mostly only lied about his drug use and alcoholism; but, then again a lot of great creators and artists and poets have been drug addicts and alcoholics; but, you can still respect their work. No one's perfect and not all people are choir boys that's just the way the world is.
About political stuff he was mostly truthful.

Another thing about Ford though is that if you walk up to him he will talk to you for 10 or 15 minutes.
Other politicians will talk to you for 30 seconds and then give the nod to their assistants to get rid of you somehow.
So Ford's openness to talking to people gives the perception of openness and transparency while the dodgy evasiveness of average politicos just makes you go wtf.

Typical Ford hater...put words in my mouth. Love how you guys have so much hate that you automatically assume shit and would say anything and twist to support your agenda to spread hate against RoFo.

I would not vote for RoFo, although I don't think he is that bad for the city as some make it out to seem.

I did not vote in municipal election the last time.

Yes, I voted against Hudak.
If you didn't vote in the last muni election then your opinions shall be considered irrelevant.

Only in that everybody knows a self entitled idiot who thinks they're hot shit when they're really just the product of a spoiled upbringing..

Rob Ford is every rich fat kid that I knew growing up that you never felt sorry for because they were a total dick to everybody they knew..

Sorry, he lied about EVERYTHING. He lied about his policies, he lied about what he did, what he would do. He lied about his approach to unions, talking tough in the media while signing sweetheart deals. He lied about the city budget. He lied about EVERYTHING.

All he did was lie and whether you supported him or opposed him boils down to whether you were gullible enough to believe the bullshit he constantly spewed.

Our Mayor is one vote in 43. A mayor must work with council to get shit done. Rob Ford is incapable of working with council. He couldn't even come to an agreement with the manager of his biggest most important file (the transit file). Heck, he fucked up so large last term (with his drug/alcohol abuse) that council voted (almost unanimously) to strip him of as many powers as possible (the vast majority of these same councilors were then elected back to council this term).

Rob Ford can talk like the average Joe, but that's it.. Otherwise he was a complete and total fuck up..

This is it in a nutshell.

Everyone who touts his "accomplishments" forgets that they are not actually his but the entire councils.

How anyone can think a bumbling buffoon is necessary as the chief magistrate of a major city is mind-boggling.

I voted unsure because quite frankly I haven't seen any difference in the city. Mind you it's still only 1.5 years into Tory's reign. The subway is still jammed and takes to long to get from point A to point B. Construction is still everywhere with no end in sight. There are many empty business units in midtown where I work. Traffic is the same or worse. I'm still paying 5 cents for plastic bags at the grocery store. The TCHC is still a complete disaster (this will be the subject of a future post by me). I'll reserve my judgment until the end of Tory's first term in office.
