Is it ACTUALLY possible that Trump could become the next US President???

This is becoming worrisome. He's been mocked by the pundits since Day 1, but he just keeps rolling along, appealing to the downtrodden masses (which is kinda ironic considering he represents the worst of the 2% that folks seem to love to hate...)

As Canadians, there's SFA we can do about it, but I can't imagine what he might do in the Oval Office. Someone reminded me that that US President is pretty much impotent on his own, and I think that may be a good thing.

Is it possible that the GOP can somehow deny him the nomination?

It's possible that the GOP can deny him the nomination, yes. He needs 50% of the delegates, and those who were picked up by Rubio and others who have dropped out may not want to support Trump. Especially if, say, Rubio shows up at the convention and asks his delegates to support somebody else.

If he does get the nomination it's probable he would lose the election, based on current polling. His supporters arent even a majority in the Republican party and he will have trouble appealing to women, latino's, etc.

But yes it's possible for him to become president, he has a shot at it with a non zero probability of success.

I doubt he will be president but he has already had an impact on government policies. He would actually be more effective as a private citizen where he can openly speak his mind.

The Republican is busy doing damage control and trying to stay intact! The GOP was floundering even before Trump appeared but now the party appears about to capsize. The stage is set for the Republican Party to do a lobotomy on itself in July at their National Convention as they attempt to exorcize their front runner Trump, the resulting blood bath will forever haunt them. The GOP are resigned to the fact that a Democrat will be elected to the Oval Office in seven months and continue to help ensure this fact.

So many things can occur beyond all the party insiders control.

Hillary could be called in by the FBI.

Bernie could decide he has enough money to run as an independent.

Trump could decide to run as an inpedendent.

We could have all four running. This could happen. And if it does then there will be no vote splitting, the two parties will lose supporters, and many new voters of the near 50% who don't vote may well come out.

I've kinda put aside any logical progression to this campaign and am embracing chaos Theory.

Sure it's possible.

He could win enough delegates on his own, don't forget that an undercurrent of the GOP still considers Sarah Palin the superstar of the party, he could easily secure the nomination.

But then the hard part begins. He'll have to get that purrty mouth into the asscracks of female and ethnic voters. At this point neither have much use for him.

Well here is the bigger picture:

The Republican party is not about to capsize, they've been capsizing for quite sometimes now! The only reason they control the house and the senate is because they were able to do a great job at painting Obama as the ultimate villain. The level of racist assholes who typically vote Republican is unprecedented in the USA. About 30 to 40 % of the population is overtly or closeted bigots. Another fact that always help the Republican, is their ability to pass voter ID laws that makes it very hard for the minorities to vote. But in general elections, it's much harder for the Republicans. Trump polls well on that 30-40% but he would suffer a crushing defeat in the general. Hilary Clinton who is also unpopular (for different reasons than Trump) will crush him in the general.

Anyway, take note of what I'm saying here and you will see that the Republican will ultimately rally behind Trump because they are too chicken to loose their bases and the end results, will be devastating for their party. Trump and Cruz, are Frankenstein that they created and now the monster is coming home to eat the master.

here and there
Morphing from a private citizen to a politician hasn't seemed to hurt his ability to speak his mind.

If the election is between Hillary and Trump, there will be a contrast between candidates like never before.

Clinton has had to fight tooth and nail to beat an old commie who gets no airtime and she's only ahead because of the corrupt super delegate system.

She'll have her hands full with Trump, and it wouldn't surprise me if Trump wins over some of her core constituencies.

Ben Carson was on the Daily Show last night talking about how presidential Trump is off TV.

As he has already endorsed him I wonder if he is in the running to be VP

Yes, Trump is making a stand and honouring all those slurpies lost at 7/11.
Very presidential.

Definitely not. Trump will select an insider for VP - somebody with vastly more experience in politics and more qualified than Carson. For all his graces and intelligence, Carson is not presidential material.

Trump will give Carson a top job somewhere in healthcare.

Trump knows this is serious business and he will 'hire' the right VP for the job. He knows this is not just a real estate transaction nor a reality show where the "outsiders" go it alone and save the day for America. That's been the media's characterization of his campaign from the brainless talking heads and they've missed the boat because of it.

Trump has already begun pivoting to a more disciplined approach as is necessary to grow his support. Hes secured the grassroots and now he's focused on widening the tent.
