Trunc,
Once more, you`ve lost me. Are you saying that my rejection of a comparison iof Bush and Hitler makes [somehow] "like" a Muslim Brotherhood fanatic? That sounds like a(n inadvertent) compliment to SQ, rather than an insult to me. Were you in such a rush to react to the harsh comments about Shrub that you didn`t quite think your rhetoric through?

Organizations are made up of individuals

So some Hamas members will become more moderate, others more radical, still others will remain the same. It won't make much difference if there is a political party in power bent on Israel's destruction, I don't see how Israel could live in peace with it.

PS Sinn Fein is not like Hamas, and observant Irish Catholics are not like observant Muslim Arabs. For one thing, the Irish drink booze and for another, they can take a joke.

They have no choice. Without assistance from the EU and the US they'll
either split into different factions or realize time is against them. They
can't sustain without outside support. Even Saudi money won't save
them.

Beside, the PLO was corrupt and had to be dismissed from power.
But, but, but....how does this totally absurd and outrageous swords to ploughshares scenario fit in with your Kantesque Armaggedon proclomations?

He was an influential member of the Muslim Brotherhood.
He was jailed under Abdul Nassar for insightment and
sedition. His works were written in prison and reflect
his distain for personal liberty in the West. His
writings are published widely in the Middle East and
have a direct influence on OBL. Nassar finally put him
to death. His followers assassinated Anwar Sadat.

He's been an icon for those that resent the West's
influence in the Middle East and the Arabs acceptance
of secular government. He believed Islam should unite
the Arab peoples and not a Western style secular society
with it's humanist values. He is an important figure in the
current situation.

What else do you want to know about him.

Yes, and others about him. He was truly ethnocentric
and against Western secularism. Individual liberty was
not seen as being relevant to him. He's one of many
true believers. He had no concept of individual liberty
and self-determination. Religious principals dominated
all else. He essentially held to the ancient view that
those in power were privileged and immune from
accountability, for they followed the true path of the Quoran.
They take no hostages. "Either you're with us, or you're
against us." Sound familiar?
The obvious point of the article is that his hatred of the West had absolutely nothing to do with the typical apologentsia nonsense we see parroted in the MSM and on this board. He hated the West for simply being the West.

Very good DQ. American imperialism didn’t seem to concern this particular RIF. This should be a paradigm shifting case study for the terrorist sympathizers.
