My Iphone 6+ has completely failed.

Within about 8 hours of me noticing the start of a problem I had hoped was "just one of those things", the phone has tuned into a thousand dollar paperweight.

It's about 16 months old.

The screen just becomes unresponsive, nothing works. Of course, it's out of warantee. Called Apple and they claim total ignorance about any such problem, but as always, google is your friend.

Iphone 6 touch disease.

I thought I could find an Apple nerd who could repair the thing in town somewhere, but to no avail. They all know about the problem but the problem is that Apple won't release the chips to fix it and even then, it might not be possible.

Piece of crap.

Apple is slow to do recalls, but they do them.
Good luck.

IF it is a legitimate design flaw then I'd take it to Apple and pay for the repair. If its deemed a recall for a design issue they will reimburse you. I had a macbook pro repair paid back by Apple once for a recall.

Take it to an Apple Store. Be nice and drop hints about having other apple products. They my just replace the unit for you. They did it for me once with an iPad.

I think you mean you have the iPhone 6, not 6s. The 6s has only been out for less then 12 months. From what I heard (via cnet) In the 6s, there was a redesign which solves the issue.

I'm still using an iphone 4. Still functional. I dont need many apps. Off contract. Will never get rid of it!

The new Galaxy Note 7 also has issues of an over-heated battery. My advice: Never buy into the smartphone hype. Wait until the product has been around for a while, and if there are no issues or issues have been resolved, then buy a refurbished phone. Way less $ and more reliable then the new technology that comes out with a bunch of flaws.

This.
Similar experience. They usually can tell if you're a loyal customer based on registered products. But just calmly explain what happened and most times than not, they'll accomodate you in some way.
If you go in screaming and kicking, you'll get nothing.

Tried it.

All it got was "you need to buy a new phone" .

They deny the problem is common , hell they deny there even is a problem. I showed them (on my work BlackBerry) all the results of the google search and the woman didn't even look at the screen and just continued to tow the party line. Maddening.

The class action lawsuits are literally just starting last week.

Apple is in full denial on this one.

And why should it matter if youre a "loyal customer" or not? They had no problem taking my money 16 months ago. Loyalty never entered the discussion. A 1000 dollar phone should last more than 16 months. This isn't a one of situation.

Piece of crap.

A 1000 bucks isn't going to break me, but it's the principle of it all.

Again, if there is a legit class action suit starting there is a very good chance of Apple covering all repairs, including retroactively paying for repairs made through apple. I had a macbook pro that suffered from gpu failure that I paid for repair, it took about six months for Apple to respond to threats of class action suits and start a warranty repair issue, but they did eventually reimburse me for the repair I paid.

If you can get them to repair it, you stand the best chance of getting it fixed for free long term.

I would have asked the employee (or the store manager) how they'd feel about me standing outside their store explaining my predicament to all their potential customers walking in.

I got tired of paying $1,200 for a phone that cost them $50 to make. I gave up on Apple and went with the Android Oneplus two for $450. Six months and I'm still happy.

It's faster, has 64 g memory, privacy button for complete privacy or only contacts you deem important, great camera. It has a fingerprint reader that works well.

You can activate the camera or light by sweeping a V or a O on the black screen. All of the apps in iOS are available on android including ones I paid for on the iPhone.

It also takes a dual sim. I travel to the states and rather than get corn holed by Bell I purchase a chip and plan from from a us provider at 15% of what I Was paying Bell.

Hmmm, I think Catastrophic failure/Design Flaw would be this:

http://money.cnn.com/2016/09/02/technology/samsung-galaxy-note-7-recall/
Samsung is recalling millions of new Galaxy Note 7 smartphones worldwide after reports that the devices can catch fire while charging.

I prefer the days when all I had to worry about was getting cancer from having a cell phone to close to my head...
There's nothing to suggest the Galaxy Note 7 has a catastrophic failure/design flaw but rather a bunch of defective batteries from their supplier. And unlike jtk's iPhone, Samsung is replacing them under warranty.

Besides, iPhones aren't immune to catching on fire. https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?575572-The-new-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-7-is-a-real-blast&p=5632940&highlight=#post5632940

I'm not sure if I've been running into the same problem. I've a 6s and my screen freezes up occasionally when I download new OS updates. One trick that seems to work is to press the home button and the power button together to reboot the phone. When it comes up, try to disable the finger print reader.

This is the downfall of constantly updating to the latest model phones. I can't understand why so many people are racing to get the next smart phone for a new feature, while the phone they have is barely being used for even half its capabilities.

I'd suspect they'd ask Security to tell you to leave the Mall.

And that they'd laugh at you because you will have zero impact on the fanboi's buying.
