You continue to have a comprehension issue, this isn't iOS vs Andoriod (Android has vastly larger market share), this is the top two handsets - the iPhone 5 is kicking the Galaxy S3's ass. I noticed you skipped that point.

iOS isn't losing market share to Android, everyone else is:

Yes yes, childish insecure Apple bashing - meh
You seem to have a selective on the the market (US) and isolating the fact that Apple is faltering significantly against Samsung and more importantly the O/S Android which will in all respects Apple is beginning to mirror the RIM early performance against competition. You want figures:

It is Apple that holds this childish notion that they have a superior product and they haven't been duped into buying an inferior product because they buy the brand not the best product.

We are just trying to shatter the myth so that you can move on and enjoy the best technology has to offer.

We are having an intervention here against a cult belief.

We are trying to help you. I know this is possibly the hardest truth to accept since you learned about Santa Claus - we are your friends - we sympathize with your delusion. Trust us.

BTW: your graph source is Wikipedia which while useful, is only as accurate as the the info people put in.

Samsung is on a roll!

Besides their fine phones, Samsung laptops are highly rated and now Samsung is making fine SSDs that are giving Intel SSDs a run for the money!
Currently Intel SSDs are rated tops but Samsung SSDs are rated faster and improving. This is important because in a year or two ALL drives will be SSD. Mechanical HDDs are being phased out as prices drop on SSDs and Samsung and Intel are positioned well to benefit from this move to the SSD....;)

I recently put a SSD in my Dell i7 desktop and will never go back to slow HDDs....:thumb:

In order for this study to have meaning it should be a comparison between IOS and android. Many people are drawn to IOS, they have no choice but to use apple Iphones, it's a great OS, especially for people new to smart phones or people who might be slightly tech challenged who just want something simple and easy to use. I'm particular to android because i'm more of a power user and will use my phone to it's capabilities and maybe beyond. When i was looking for a new phone i was having a hard time deciding between HTC, Samsung, Moto.

When comparing web traffic between IOS and Android, IOS accounted for 72% of all web traffic compared with Android's 26% in May of this year. As of Oct Android now account for 50% of web traffic when compared to IOS/ Apple's 43%.

Apple is hugely popular hell i even own the stock and want to see it keep going up. How often do you hear people in movies and tv shows say "Iphone" now how often do you hear them say "Samsung, Android, or Galaxy"? Does that mean the Iphone is a better phone?

Again like i've always said even though a phone may be more widely used or owned doesn't make it better. Is the ford-fiesta the best car in the world?

They seem to be doing OK on the Usage thing....

Not that web traffic is an indicator of how good a phone is. When you break that graphic down here's what you get.

Apple's 43% includes ALL Iphones 5,4,4s,3,3s,2 and original, yes some people are using original 2007 iphones.

Samsung's 15% is almost exclusively all androids since samsung almost exclusive sells androids, and other less capable phones do not contribute much in terms of web traffic.
Now for the 37% slice, this is the interesting one. Andrew Weber, One of Chitika’s data engineers states that non-Samsung Android is 34 percent of North American mobile web traffic.
As stated on the graph the Samsung galaxy 3 accounts for 2% of web traffic.

Weber goes on to say that the numbers do fluctuate but are indeed correct.

Apple 43%
Android 50-51%
Others 6-7%

I think there are two interesting comparisons - one of OSs (your Android vs iOS - there really isn't yet a third relevant player) - the other is among the top selling phones. For the iPhone 5 to have larger use stats than a phone that was months before is simply an indicator of adoption.

Android holds massive marketshare at the bottom of the market - which is why the internet use stats are so different than the sales stats... you could also look at profits to come to the same conclusion - Apple wins about 70% of all smart phone profits - they own a lions share of the top end of the market which is why the iPhone 4 will outsell most Android handsets (even the high end ones) in the next 12 months.

The ford-fiesta analogy is an interesting one, what we have here is not that but a Rolex outselling a Timex because it's the same price...

We can use your chart, tells the same story, Apple holds between 15-22% marketshare - it moves with product releases and has been in that range (will be at the high end this Q with the iPhone 5 release) - hard to argue that Android is taking share from Apple when Apple's share of an expanding market is pretty consistent. Cobster didn't understand this math either. Android is taking RIM / Symbian (what's left of it) and M$ share - not Apple share.

It is Apple that holds this childish notion that they have a superior product and they haven't been duped into buying an inferior product because they buy the brand not the best product.

Again android splits it's sales among many different manufactures. IOS fans have only one choice when they seek a new IOS phone. It would be the equivalent of how the right is united in Canada, if you're a right wing voter you have one (real) choice, conservative, while the left is up for grabs and gets split among the NDP and LIBS.

Apple has a remarkable brand power and are the winners here hands down maybe even among any product in the world. As for the superiority of the phone that is up for debate, sales mean nothing more than which is more popular. Again i own shares in apple but i don't own any in google or samsung so i'm definitely rooting for the brand and the company to do very well!

As for your rolex vs. timex i imagine you made this comparison as a slight against a galaxy s3 which is the same price as an Iphone 5, however it's fairly unrealistic if one was to be absolutely honest with themselves.

Can someone tell me what the approximate price of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is . Is it cheaper to get it from Bell or Rogers? Or is it about the same?

My only complaint with the S3 is that you have to download SWYPE beta from the swype site. Instead of having SWYPE as default option like it is on the S2, the S3 uses a samsung swype-like keyboard but it doesn't work nearly as well as Swype - gives wrong words, poorer recognition and word suggestions and so on.

Downloaded Swype beta and back in business with rapid text input.

In WNY Samsung Galaxy S3 goes for $200 with 2 yr contract but Best Buy, Sam's Club and a few other places are selling it for $150 with 2 yr contract.

In reading some of onthebottom's posts about Apple, he is clearly a fanboy of Apple. But sales don't mean superiority of a product, I agree.

Why is best selling important?

I like that when it comes to android phones I have choice in terms of style/looks, size, features. With Apple you have one phone to choose from with differences only in memory. On top of that with androids that have expandable memory you could increase the memory to suit your budget.

At the times when I bought the S2 and Note they were also cheaper than the competing apple phones at the time.

So why would I throw out those considerations or invalidate them because something else is more popular?

It's simply a measure of adoption.

the hobby needs more capitalism
Over what period of time is this? Possibly a big SW push by Apple?
Updates for iOS are done by iTunes or via a option within preferences on the iPhone. You don't exactly go on to the web to update your phone.

Everything that goes through iTunes is web traffic and all iOS pushes generate web traffic..
