iPad launch day: Where are all the sell-outs?

BGR called a dozen Apple Stores in and around New York City between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. EDT on Friday in order to find out whether or not they still had the new iPad in stock. In years past, checks like these were fielded by apologetic sales associates breaking the news that launch-day inventory had been completely depleted. This year, however, we didn’t find a single store in the New York area that reported a complete stock-out.

iPads are still available everywhere in Toronto as of Sat evening.....most reports say turnout nothing like previous product launches

Wonder if those commie workers you exploit are on 'forced overtime' because of this???.....

Perhaps you should send some warehouse 'security guard' over there to check this out.....ASAP.

Is Officer blackcock13 busy???.....:eyebrows:

iP3 is not the revolution that many thought. Personally I think its over priced and too large. I'm going to check it out in the store - just to see it - but it seems to me the RIM playboook is a better choice from what I have seem so far.

Lol. Yes the rim playbook works for some. I gather with the recent way delayed software update the playbook actually has working email now.

Very true:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-5...have-a-clue-as-to-why-they-need-the-new-ipad/

One numbingly consistent (as in "here we go again") query to Apple staff by prospective buyers--and I'll paraphrase--was: "Hey, I really don't see any difference between this new iPad and my iPad 2. Can you show me what's different?"
The Apple staff was quick to rattle off 4G, better camera, dictation, and, of course, the Retina display. But the improved camera and dictation was of little interest to the buyers I stood next to. 4G was important to a few but not material for others.
But, ah, that new display. Everybody was obsessing about that. That glorious, pixel-packing, eye-popping screen.
Too bad most of the people--again, this just an infinitesimally small sample of people standing at the same table during the couple of hours I was there--could not see the difference.
As I stated above, if I were buying an ipad today, I would buy an ipad2. Same way I would buy a xoom over one of the latest android tablets. I love the latest and greatest as much as anyone, but sometimes you have to weigh the extra cost vs. the benefits. Unless you need 4G, I don't see any real advantage with the new ipad.

Woodie? That would mean he'd have to lift something.
About the heaviest thing you lift is a cup of coffee with your donuts!....:eyebrows:

Apple sells 3 million new iPads

OTB can sleep well now lol ;)

4.657% of all iPads in the USA are the new one
I don't think that includes pre-orders.....

Is there any single Android tablet that has sold as many since release as Apples has sold of the new iPad since last Friday?

LOL!

There was someone on here who was going on about how well the Asus Transformer tablet was selling and then I found out that they were hoping to sell 4 million of them in 2012. Can you believe that? They're hoping to sell in a year what Apple sells over a long weekend.

I think the iPad has reached it's limits without a major change in direction. to keep it a sealed system means no interfaces. so what's left? display. I know that if i go buy a great new monitor for my computer and start telling my friends how i've achieved a breakthrough...well. they'll look at me funny. Maybe the next release will have usb host and sd. That will raise the bar again.
