By drop boxes I suspect you mean third party storage like Icloud and such, no thanks. USB keys are so useful and can be uplaoded to other computers for whatever so easily.
No, he means DropBox the service.

I guess iCloud was a bad choice but the third party comment still applies. Drop box is an option, but I really don't like others having access to or a copy of my files. I suspect to transfer all this, the main an auxiliary computers and have to be on and web accessed.

Why are tablets being compared to PCs? They are two very different things for different purposes. If you don't work on your computer then a table makes sense. But if you do actuall work then a PC cannot be replaced. Try doing some a big spreadsheet on a tablet vs having multiple spreadsheet on multiple monitors. Can you do web development on a tablet? Nope. My Android tablet sits in the bathroom so I can browse YouTube (and Terb) when taking a shit.

Windows 8 tablets are coming out by end of the year. Now that is something I am very much looking foward to. With a Win8 tablet I can use a dock to a monitor (extended screen mode), keyboard and mouse to do actual work. When I am done I can just pick up the tablet and use the Metro UI apps but still have access to the desktop apps if necessary. If you ask me Windows 8 tables are far more usefull that iPads or Android tables. It's too bad people can't get pass the fact that it's Windows and don't realize that you don't have to use the Metro UI. You can still use the desktop you idiots!
I agree, I think W8 is really going to push the tablet forward... I also think MS will release a tablet version of their crown jewels (Office) when they get in the game....

Actually Microsoft has already said that in addition to having a desktop in windows 8 (including ALL the programs that currently run on windows 7 which would obviously include office) that windows 8 will have the office suite for the metro side (arm architecture). Some have speculated that this metro arm version will be ported to ios but I have my doubts

See, now you went and ruined OTB's ability to predict things by saying MS said it will be doing so. Party pooper!

The play for office will be one of leverage to drive business users to their platform vs a cash grab (Office on iOS would make M$ a fortune)

Once Win 8 comes out, MS should get a bit of a resurgence in the mobile space. Apple won't make a nice keyboard accessory for the iPad like the Asus Transformer line because they want people to buy a MB Air, you cannot even pair a mouse with an iPad without jailbreaking.. But Nokia, Asus etc will make nice tablet/notebook combos.

What's apples strategy?

Dazzle with brilliance and Baffle with bullshit?

Just because you don't know RIMs strategy, doesn't mean they don't have one.

Interestingly - what is the ROI on the purchase of an apple product... right...less that zero, from the day you get it, you will continue to shell out money.
I think Apple's strategy is pretty clear (from content to cloud to apps to mobile devices to computing) what's hard is discerning any RIM strategy other than push email (so 2001) and messaging (is there a 13yr old that doesn't do that already?).... tell me, what's RIM's strategy, how are they going to compete with Apple, Amazon, Google and soon M$....

Yes this is exactly what I'm looking forward to.
