Well, if you believe the BS that Robbers I mean Rogers spouts about them being the most reliable, then their competition must go down more than once a day.

Ever since I switched to rogers for home phone and internet I've had nothing but problems. Almost daily my connection is lost and I can't access any webpages.

I had that problem when I used windows, but ever since I got my macbook I've never had a problem.
Did you have the same problem with your voip phone too? If it was only the internet I'd say yeah, that might help but when the phone goes down too that means it's the ISP/server not the computer doing the accessing.....

I tried Acanac for a couple of months but decided to stay with Rogers. There's some noise issue on the phone line that is beyond my control. As a result, I got intermittent connection problems. Acanac cannot do anything about it and Bell claimed that everything is working fine. So I got rid of both of them.

That said, the savings with Acanac is significant, if you have already got a reliable DSL connection, it's worth the risk to switch to them.

Never heard of Netscape as a provider.....but I use Primus both for the phone and the "net" no problems, 50 bucks a month for the 2 including call display and the internet is unlimited downloads.....

I've been using Rogers for internet and home phone for the last two months, and the service has been fine. I wasn't a fan of Rogers based on the treatment I received from them many years ago, but I think they're much better now.

Oh man, you just wait.....and keep a close eye on your bill, they have a habit of 'forgetting' about the promo pricing they give you and charge you the regular rate hoping you don't notice.

Ditto that ... I use a relatively small, local ISP, that provides problem-free high-speed for approx $36/month, which has had one small price increase in 15 years. The majority of Rogers customers I've met, both past and present, have nothing good to say about them. IMHO, they're too big and too smug, and famous for their nasty surprises and lousy customer relations.

I have tried Acanac, I didnt like them, I could not get full speed and had a lot of problems with constant disconnects. I've been with teksavvy almost a year now and I think there great. Check out the reviews at www.dslreports.com.

I think Netscape is also known as America Online. The Netscape brochure is in The Source stores (previously they were available at the LCBO).

I've used Rogers for three years with no problems. Customer service is now better than ever too.
Perhaps I'm lucky.

Rogers....

I used Rogers for about 5yrs+ internet, cable and home phone. Over the entire 5 yrs the internet went down maybe 3 times total. The phone and/or cable was 100% ... never went down once.

I recently had Rogers internet installed in new place I just moved to. The second day after it was installed it went down. I called them and they had a tech at my house inside of 2.5 hrs.

I am now thinking of switching my Telus cell phone over to them. Rogers has this new plan for cell phones called TalkSpot. How it works is that whenever you are with-in 30 metres of your wireless modem at home all your cell phone calls are free 24/7. Sounds like a good deal to me.

teksavvy (or one of their many affiliates) resells the same service as Bell but for less money and with fewer restrictions.

I was with rogers up until 8 months ago. The constant price increases and reduced caps become too much for me to bear. I switched over to acanac, $20 a month with no caps. At first everything was great with Acanac, speeds were great and the connection was solid, for awhile now I have been battling constant disconnects. 2 days ago I called them about the issue, I must say that reaching tech support was very quick, and it was a native english speaker that answered the call, it turns out that there was noise on my line, probably due to having too many phones connected. I disconnected a few unused phones and everything is good now.

I do not have any qualms about acanac especially given its price and no caps, but I am probably not going to renew with them once my contract ends. I perfer cable over DSL.
