Ok,

I have a serious problem here.

My internet browser is auto-completing in the address bar.

For example.....

I type in www.t

Just the letter t

And the pull down comes down and you can see TERB.

just the letter t.

or

www.l

causes lava life to be autocompleted.

I have delected my history, cookies, files, even downloaded history kill, but nothing seems to work.

If someone were to use my computer (a guest or whatever) and type in www.toronto.com for example, the second they typed the letter "t" they would see that i have been accessing terb.

It's none of anyone's business.

I am using windows XP, any suggestions out there????????

JTK...go to your tools menu in IE and select 'Internet Options"

A window will come up with a bunch of tabs on it...select the "content" tab and click on the "Auto complete" button in the lower portion of the tab...uncheck all of the check boxes and click OK...you should be all fixed up

For IE 6.0.X

Tools -> Internet Options -> Content -> Autocomplete -> Clear Forms

You can then make adjustments where it says, "Use Autocomplete for:" and then check (or, de-check) the boxes.

Thank you all VERY MUCH.

It worked like a charm actually.

It was driving me crazy all the time. I was out the other day and a guy suggested history kill as a great little program to utilize for deleted your tracks on the net. I thought it would cure the the problemo, but it didn't

All is well in the universe and I don' t have to worry about my sister figuring out where I have been on the net, or a GF, or whatever.

cheers

I knew that some fellow terbites would know the answer.

We live to serve.

BTW... unless I'm mistaken, you don't really need to buy a history kill program. As I understand (and fellow TERBites can correct me if I'm wrong on this), you just need to clear out your history and cache on a regular basis. Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Delete Files and Clear History. That should cover it. So save your money for important stuff... like wimmen.

Don't forget....

Don't forget to clear your Recently viewed Documents! (I got burned on that one)
Right click on Start, Properties then Customize
Then Clear.

Try Window Washer, Evidence Eliminator, or any of the other good privacy protection software out there.

I can't understand why anyone concerned about protecting the privacy of what they're surfing, reading or browsing on their computer would fail to do such a simple, low cost thing. Seems to me it'd be much more cost effective than a divorce ;)

Here's a good, side by side review of the top privacy software programs on the market:
