Something has happened in the last 2 weeks to cause IE to constantly freeze up. I have not installed any new s/w so I think it is one of the updates.

Is anyone else noticing this?

I have uninstalled it and re-installed it after which it works fine for about 2 days then it is back to freeze ups.

And yes I do use firefox (for TERB mainly) but there are some sites that run better with IE.

I had similiar problem after the recent MSFT security recent updates and I had to disable some "Add-ons". I had to go through the list to see what is was. In my case it was a Skype add-on.

I noticed gmail runs smoothly with Firefox but when I use IE 7.0, gmail slows to a crawl.

Anyone else have this problem?

Have you scanned for spyware? I have seen many instances where it has completely locked up internet explorer. Also, have you deleted your temp. internet files recently? Start with the easy stuff first..

I had some very strange goings on in my PC and I downloaded and ran "combofix". It cleaned up all issues I had:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

This is potentially very dangerous utility but it is very smart. Use at your own risk!!

If you want better advice you can run hijackthis and post results on http://pctechforums.com. They will tell you exactly what to do. Perhaps better then this titties forum for tech advice :)

I already use IE Privacy Keeper to delete all cookies, temp files etc each time that I shut down IE and Firefox.

After doing the whole spyware schtick I started deleting programs that I rarely use. Then I saw 5 Java 5.0 updates, each one about 155megs, so I deleted all of them.

THAT fixed the freezing problem. I will no longer allow JAVA to update anything.
