We're all here to read and write reviews. If you don't want that then why are you here?!?

confused

Athena,

You know I like you like bees like honey, but this sounds like a legitimate question. I don't see any shilling in his post.

Maybe you have some other information on this guy, or maybe you prefer to just not be discussed on the board right now, I don't know.

:confused:

Oh Well

I'm not sure what shill means but I assume it is not good. I was just interested in seeing if anyone had any positive or negative things to say about Lyla's. I was hoping this would be the right place to get some info. Judging by the reaction I got I think I would be better off to try another establishment. Thanks anyway, and I'll make sure to post a review as soon as I have one.

Some people are shy, or maybe its one of his first times, or maybe he had a bad experience before?... All kinds of reasons why one would ask for a recommendation. It doesn't mean that he was suspicious of the place. But let me tell ya something: I've walked into a few places before for future reference, and when I said thanks, I'll think about it, you could see the expression on their faces, especially if business was slow: like maybe they thought was something wrong, or they thought I didn't like the attendant or the place?

Just my 2 cents.

In addition to Wilbur's comments, lets be honest, Lyla's is not the best location for discretion. If you are shy and new to the hobby this is one of the last places one would go for a walk-in. I am inclined to trust his sincerity in this case, as I know I have done the "circle-jerk" about Lyla's in the past and I had an appointment.

A shill is someone who posts a fake review in order to generate business. He or she is usually the MA or SP in question and is posting a very positve fake review to get others to book appoinments. There is no way the original poster is a shill.

I thought it might be something like that.

I know you've had this kind of thing before and I know it can feel threatening. The truth is that this kind of competitive tactic is everywhere in the business world and often much worse.

My advice would be;

Don't sweat it too much. Anyone who cares about their business will want to know what the competition is doing. There is lots of freely available info about Lyla's from a customer's perspective. If the competition really wanted to know what your customers like about your place it's easy to find. That's a good thing, you have a business that serves the public new customers need to be able find that info too.

Your competition will call you pretending to be a customer or a former customer. While their intent may be to scare you, believe it or not it's a good thing too. Clearly they see you as a threat, or a potential threat, or maybe even the one they need to catch. As long as they are in the position of trying to understand your business so they can copy your success they're in second place. Don't worry about them too much.

It's kind of like a runner in a race calling out to the person in front them "hey, I think your shoe is untied!" Don't even look down, and don't let them scare you into performing one iota below your capability. If you turn down new customers because you're worried it might them, it just helps keep them in the race. If they could compete with you on a level playing field they would.

Don't let the little people scare you.

Thats my two cents anyway.
