I recently bid and won a Kodak LS433 [4.3MP] on ebay. My winning bid was 484.00 Cdn. It was an excellent buy. It comes with everything you need.

The only thing I had to buy was the 256M card. I researched most of the winning bids - they were around $480 - $500 Cdn. The chap[Cyrus] I got mine from was local - TO. I can provide you his name and he can give you a similar deal.

FYI, Future Shop had it on sale for $699 and the best retail price I found was Black's at $599.

The camera is great - had many good reviews. Like you, I too was concerned about my investment! Hope this helps.

cheers

Re: Minolta

AverageJoe, what made you chose Minolta DiMAGE 7Hi over the other 5MP, such as NIKON coolpix 5700 ? I am currently looking into 5MP digicams and am actually considering the very same Minolta model that you have.
There were a number of reasons. The reviews on CNET were slightly better overall for the Minolta and consistently mentioned that the Coolpix's autofocus was slow under low light conditions, there were various lens problems and there was no way to add filters to the lens.

Since my last three cameras were Minoltas the slightly higher ratings made the choice easy for me.

If you get the 7Hi I recommend getting one extra set of 1950 mAh Ni-MH batteries right away. Once you work with it for a while you'll get an idea of how many extra sets you will need in the long term. A set of batteries will last about 200-250 pictures at high resolution (about 25% with flash) and very minimal use of the LCD display.
