The fast food places are empty because people are not spending as they use to. Last week I stepped into a Pizza Pizza and ordered a medium ( actually it is their big version of a small pizza ) There was one customer in all the time I was there. If I was the CEO of a fast food franchise if I can not make money I would try to build customer loyalty. Yes, increase some prices but put out a few specials to fill the place up rather than have it empty at noon hour.

The forecast for inflation is that the US Federal Reserve will throttle back to 1/2 % and then 1/4% in the next several interest rate hikes. People always think it is the end of the world just before things stabilize or improve. This is our version of the depression that our grand parents went through. Hopefully with the quick communication and co-operation of the governments we can get through this in a few years.

I heard today that Loblaw's net profit is up 30%. Do ya think maybe they're using inflation as an excuse to raise their prices more than the cost of their goods, and screwing us over?

Same with other grocery chains and the gasoline companies...
Stores like grocery chains make their money handling merchandise for other companies, they make money selling shelf space to big manufacturers, they also charge them to advertise in their flyers. The only place where the retail stores do not make money on shelf space or advertising is the produce goods and the no name products where they buy from the manufacturers( at a lower price ) and take on the expense and risk of selling these products. The grocery chains stores are the only stores that do not have diminished customers numbers because everyone has to eat.

I've been a minimalist for probably over a decade. I've seen it coming so I prepared the best I could.

You have to know where when and how to shop.
-Most clothing stores have shops online where they have huge discounts to blowout inventory.
-I mostly eat dense and healthy food. Even when I eat out, it's usually Middle-Eastern, Vietnamese or Caribbean because the meal is based around rice and meat.
-If you are going to eat fast-food, Get Wendy's. They have the best ingredients out of all the big fast food chains imo.
-Invest in an indoor Grill Air Fryer.
-Buy generic brand as much as you can or as you see fit.
-Get rid of that gas guzzler and get something fuel-efficient.
-Always look for cheap internet/cellphone/cable plans.

I see all these changes happening but it really doesn't hurt me. It's all about adapting ahead of everything.

GTA & Thereabouts...
I had a simple 1/4 chicken leg dinner at Swiss Chalet and it cost $20 with tax. Prices have really gone up compared to a few years ago. I am sure to cut down eating out at those prices.
I'm not the only one! I had a Club Wrap combo and it was $22!!! And they forgot the pickle! Swiss Chalet is the barometer.

I'll admit that I'm favouring seeing a RMT for more visits versus seeing a SP for just one visit... I'm assuming that my workload is exceeding my horniness...

Our favorite restaurant is the Brazilian steakhouse Brasa in Niagara Falls. They increased weekend prices from $70 a person to $90. One drink each, entertainment tax, tip, GST and total came to a whopping $465 for 3. Not going back anytime soon. But capacity 300 was fully jammed. 15 minute wait time even with reservation.

Same with the car industry right now. They are holding back cars to increase demand and therefore increase profits.

Too many car companies and models. They cant all be slowing at the same time on purpose.
Not all, I agree but even some and if it starts with a couple, easy to keep it going with others.

Peraonally I don’t care, I’m not shopping for a car.

I have two family members waiting for new vehicles. 3-month wait for both: mid December and mid January. They will give first one free rental if vehicle not available mid December.
My own vehicle paid for and I dont drive much. Not buying a vehicle any time soon.

If you are from Niagara tell them you refuse to pay the entertainment tax. It's a bullshit tax and no one on city council can tell you what the rate is or how it's collected.

I never buy new. I can’t justify spending that kind of money on a depreciating asset.

I maintain my cars well so I’m the same. Not looking to buy anytime soon

I have stopped going to the movies, and buy DVDs from used places.
I don't have Netflix, as I don't like the new movies much.
So, I have been buying old movies at $5-7 and staying in.

Most of my extra money goes to Food or other utilities.
I also like Books.
No alcohol, drugs or going out to bars.
The hobby is the only vice I have, and even that is at a bare minimum.

So, when any Sp asks me where I have been, they can read this post. Lol.

For people that have an alternative it's a good time to sell as price are crazy.

If you rent, and like me you negotiate to pay the least possible over long term with bad buyback options, it's good time to renegotiate a new car.
The dealer offered me a superior model, 4 wheel drive, all options and 4 winter tires at the exact same rent price. He knew he would have made 6-7k profit selling mine. I waited about 5 months to get the new car.

For people needing a new car now, buy or rent, good luck!!
