I should mention as well that there are a number of girls currently not active in the industry that post, I would suppose it's mainly a bit of habit as this was a big part of their lives for a long time. When one retires from any job it's typical that one keeps in touch with colleagues, clients, etc. when one had a positive work experience.

I take the statement back, come to think of it I have read many posts from women here that had nothing to do with self promotion and gave a womans point of view which we all need to stay balanced...thanks girls
I agree entirely.
I guess I should clarify in my own post that when I say it comes down to marketing and branding that it's not to say that the ladies are making a conscious effort to do so. In fact many post on topics of interest to them with or without the intention of branding but that is the result.
For example JMae commonly posts in threads about dogs and animal welfare. She does so because she is passionate about it and it's a part of her life and core. Since the product all ladies are selling is essentially themselves (much like a consultant) then she is unintentionally (or perhaps intentionally) contributing to her brand. She has provided insight into who you will see when you see her and what to expect. In the long run this helps for all to connect a little better with the people/services that best suit them.
Providing ones opinion on a topic or answering a question is simply providing insight into who one is and what they are like. That is brand management whether one is aware of it or not.
