The White Flag of Surrender

In a previous thread, I voiced my concerns regarding what I saw as a pile on of a young woman (Riley) over concerns that were already aired and discussed.

I give up, I now understand fully what others were saying. This young woman with vague descriptions on how she was shoved into sexual slavery now wants us to believe that too much attention is being spent on a Eastern European and not on poor little her, a visible minority Canadian.

I'm calling bull because I know full well how important this issue is to Canadian Law Enforcement at all levels. She wants us to believe this wasn't investigated or prosecuted again this is simply bull.

Clearly she has no idea what kind of threat the Canadian and US Governments now view this. Yes in the past they have viewed woman in this situation as more criminal than victim, but I can assure everyone here that is the PAST. She really should do a google search on both the Canadian and US Government, see the legislation in place, and the Departments involved, and the fears/concerns that Western Governments have on this issue now. Believe it or not it this is a multi concern issue. There is absolutely no way this would have been ignored with by the authorities

This woman is throwing in the race card when this isn't the issue in this thread at all --- if this woman has nothing to contribute to the topic at hand then she should say nothing.

I take my hat off to Kyra for bringing this issue forward and would hope that we can move forward on only this issue.

I do not see the point of posting every step I have taken for what has happened to being a victim or surivor as a sex slave and a child of prostitution. clearly many of you have no idea how much mental power it takes to face something of being a survior of being traffic and reopen wounds and flashbacks and other sytoms that comes with it.

Alll I can do now to move forward from this is help and teach others and form my own organization that helps sex works and survivors of sex traffiking. With the way terb quickly deleted all threads related to the 15 y.o from a use to be well respected agency it will take a lot more then trying to boycot agencies who or may not traffic females into thier agency or may or may not hire minors.

and also telling my story to a bunch of members on terb who already have a formed opinion about me based on my previous post will just give them more amo to tell me what I should or should not be doing with my life. I could go into full details of what happened to me but then people will just tell me to go and get help which I have done a large portion of my life.

and sitting in a chair at a threapist office only does so much it comes a time when you have get up from the chair and decide what your future will be.

when you got out of the situation, did you contact police? Did they investigate?

um... Sharmini is asian.

Umm, yeah you're right, but when I refer to Asian, I generally mean someone who looks Chinese. Why? Because that's what many people think of when you say Asian.

I think most people on this board know what I mean when I say that. But if you want to get technically anal, then that's what I mean. Just because she was Asian, doesn't mean that she had the same media exposure as someone who is white or chinese. But hey if you wanted me to be more specific, there it is.

I also don't think Riley should be blasted for sharing her perspective. Maybe this wasn't the thread to do it in, as it was about Sex slavery, but she raised the point, and I agree with her. I've also had personal experience with someone in my family who went missing, and the police and news didn't do a thing. So I know what she is saying is true and valid.

EDIT: I didn't read her previous post about her experiences with trafficking. I think it is completely relevant for her to post her point of view.

They are using Timea's story because Timea is an advocate for human trafficking and womans rights. Instead of being upset that they are using a Canadian story perhaps we should be proud that Canada is leading what is becoming a global initiative to stop this issue.

Since human trafficking crosses all borders goverment agencies are coming up with joint initiatives to try to combat it and to raise awareness. Timea is now a recognized speaker, her story is being told as a cautionary tale. To let people know that it's not only the third world countries but that girls are trafficked from Hungary to Canada and that everyone, you and I need to be aware. I personally am proud that Canada is playing such a big part in this as I would like to see an end to human trafficking here, I'd like to know that the women working in this industry do so by choice and not by force. I do not wish to see anyones lives ruined, anyone victimized.
So yes I'm happy that they are using a Canadian story, it's not a time to become defensive and patriotic but rather be glad that in a small way we can be a part of a solution to a problem we are a part of.
Thanks for posting Kyra, very insightful.....

God forbid the queen is too lazy to go on RileyRoyal blog.
Well having met Kyra last week, I can attest to the fact that she is a Queen, a Baroness, a Czarina, a Duchess, an Empress, an Imperator, a Monarch, a Matriarch, a Pprincess, a Sultana and yes, ....a LADY.

Apology accepted! :D

Kyra, thanks for sharing. Riley, thanks for (eventually) posting the links.

This is a part of the industry that I think many guys intentionally ignore or gloss over. It's a truly dark side of a shadowy business - it's important to occasionally remind us of it.
