Unless they have to remove your eyeball from the socket in order to operate, you probably don't have much to worry about. Many eye surgeries are performed while awake.

you're in good hands. and being awake probably doesn't mean fully alert, they probably give you a relaxer
best of luck

If its lazer eye surgery you have nothiing to worry about. easy peasy. If its something more complex I cant comment...... Good luck though....

cataracts no laser
No sweat. They do one eye at a time. I think the standard now is a "foldable" lense which means a much smaller incision. (The first cut is the deepest.) You will wear a patch for a day or so and then eyedrops. Make sure you have an escort (no pun intended) to take you home.

all i keep thinking is that i'm going to see everything, it feels like some kind of torture
I know lots of people who've had it done. No reason to be nervous. You're given a sedative and your eyeball is frozen. My buddy just had it done and was back to work the next day.

Not so much. They'll probably give you a clear plastic patch to wear. The only trouble with them is they can sometimes rub against and irritate the bridge of your nose.

I had my left eye done last May. No pain or discomfort. Only needed the one done. Only problem was getting my eyes to work together. Let eye is for distance, right eye is for close work.

i'm also a tad bit worried about the healing i am diabetic and had problems with past surgery
Presumably you've spoken with your Ophthalmologist/surgeon about this.

Further this is not the time to act macho, let them know you are scared - you are not the first person to be afraid about surgery!

Oh no...another internet tough guy bites the dust.
I made a request via PM to have my account deleted and I wasn't considered worthy of the common courtesy of a reach around... I mean response. And this little turdbag topooner gets not a perma ban but an actual deletion.

I'd feel slightly insulted if I were not so used to being the systems bitch.

As for the topic. I fear getting my eyes done. Sure they can dope me up so I don't care but I can't put eye drops in my eye. I just can't do it without flinching. Last time the optometrist did it, it took many many tries. Unless the medication comes in paste format I can put on the inside of my eye lid, I don't know what I'd do.

BTW talk to your doc about different types of lenses. My father wasn't given that option by the incompetent piece of shit who did his first eye. He was not informed of complications either until he had his second eye done by another guy. As the first doc died in the mean time and good riddance as far as I am concerned.
