So, I'm crawling up the 427 in the snow, when the moron in front of me, IN THE MIDDLE LANE, decides to stop for no visible reason. I put my 4 ways on, and wait for a opening to drive around him.

I make my move, and what does the idiot do? (S)he starts on again, as if nothing happened.

What sort of moron comes to a complete stop on a 400 series highway for no apparent reason?

Maybe he/she got tired of driving  ?

yeah be careful out there, although maybe his/her automatic traction control system kicked in and stopped the car due to slippage on the tires...they may not have had any control over the stop.

While I'm sure it's a typo, why would you have to drive around someone who stopped "beside" you?

Since you were crawling, may I assume that visibility wasn't good? Perhaps they "lost the picture" and panicked.

Tho' I definitely do agree that stopping in the middle of the highway is not a great idea.

There's a lot of people that can't handle this kind of weather and just panic. Ironically, they often end up causing the accidents they were trying to avoid.

LOL yeah, thinking faster than I can type. Was thinking about driving around them...

It was lightly snowing, visibility was reduced but still over 1000m, we were going 45, which is crawling for me.

If I am getting a blow job when I am driving, I always have to come to a complete stop when I shoot my load, otherwise I swerve from lane to lane.

scum of the earth try to purposely get into minor accidents so they can make tort injury claims against your insurance company.

cars slowly sliding around in the snow is a great opportunity for them. lots of vehicle damage with minimal real injury as opposed to the significant injury they will claim for.

You know what I think is crazy? -- how they tell you to stay off the roads unless your journey is really necessary.

That means most of the people out there in a snowstorm have no experience of snowstorms, but they've just got to get there!

What they should be saying is: Bad weather's coming -- everybody go out and practice!

After a short trip this morning, I've come to the conclusion that the most dangerous drivers in a snowstorm (or maybe in any situation) are young lads in crappy cars. They lack experience, judgment and don't give a sh!t. I almost got sideswiped by some kid in the rusted out cavalier.
Actually, most kids in rust buckets would have a harder time replacing a vehicle than the jackasses in the SUV's that think that because they have an SUV and all season radials, they don't have to slow down or give extra room.

...not in ontario. we're a statutory benefits/ no-fault jurisdiction..
true enough however there are those out there who may dislike their jobs and being injured allows them to receive 80% of their earnings, get free housekeeping, massage treatment, a new bed, etc.

if i'm not mistaken, a bodily injury claim is a tort claim where you hire a lawyer and sue the at fault insurer for economic loss as well as pain and suffering.

twobigo, let's hear your expertise on ontario auto insurance.

i guess the bbc are a bunch of idiots too for writing this article on what i said. a quote from the article, "The fraudsters stage an accident then make an inflated claim ... as the car cutting in front ahead and putting its brakes on really hard, ..."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/moneybox/6186027.stm

here's a youtube video of someone purposely slamming on their brakes to cause an accident. you're right twobigo. stuff like this never happens.

Yes they do, and because they don't clear their back window, they drive off with nary a care in the world, oblivious to the havoc they had caused.

600 accidents in the GTA thus far. A large percentage single vehicle accidents. In English driving too fast for road conditions and without proper tires.

I have always thought that you should have to take a driving test under adverse driving conditions as well as on a 400 series highway. There are far too many drivers that cannot effectively operate a motor vehicle under either set of circumstances...I know that it ain't gonna happen & it would be a logistical nightmare but it might help
I followed a guy across Queen St. in Brampton this morning who refused to drive over 30 km there was a friggin parade of people trying to get around him
