Raptors Sign Blanchard and Trybanski

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have signed free agents forward LaVell Blanchard and centre Cezary Trybanski. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Blanchard, 6-foot-7, 215 pounds, has played the past three seasons in Europe. He spent the 2005-06 campaign with EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Germany, where he averaged 12.5 points and 5.9 rebounds in 28 games. He played with Reggio Calabria of the Italian League from 2003-05. The University of Michigan product is the lone player in school history to lead the team in scoring and rebounding all four years.

Trybanski, 7-foot-2, 235 pounds, is a native of Poland and is the first Polish-born player to appear in an NBA game. He played in 22 NBA games from 2002-04 with Memphis, Phoenix and New York. Trybanski was a member of the NBADL’s Tulsa Drillers in 2005-06. He contributed an average of 3.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 16.0 minutes in 45 games last season.

The Raptors will open training camp Tuesday at RIM Park in Waterloo. Their first preseason game is Monday, October 9 at Washington. The first home contest of the preseason will be Wednesday, October 11 versus Boston.

we can sign them , as in have the rights to their contracts. That's different from the 15 guys on the rap's squad that have guarenteed contracts. We'll end up having them at camp for scrimmage and then sending their ass down to the Development league until something happens to the active 15 guys.

Form what i've read in the star and heard ion the fan, both players are just signed for camp tryouts and will most likely be cut because the raptors roster is pretty much set like the 'chinaman' said :)

Do they still have a spot for sending someone for the development league that Pap went to last year?
