After reading a few threads where the topic of torrents came up, I decided to try it. I'm still learning about this stuff and I'm can't seem to figure out how to use these rar files.

I managed to download three torrent files.

I also downloaded stuffit to expand the rar files.

24 Season 2. - Rar files with the extension r01, r02.... this expanded fine and had a great time watching all 24 episodes of 24. (I can't find season3 but I'm still looking)

Blade trinity - Rar files with the extension part001.rar, part002.rar..... these seem to want to expand separately and I get a bunch of folders with a .bin file inside. What do you do with this?

The aviator - a single file with the extension .mvcd.rar When I expand this, I get a folder within a folder with an .mpg file that has 0 bytes in it. What am I doing wrong?

Help!!

all you have to do is unrar the .rar file winrar will do the rest, and use winrar oly the daemon tools to mount the image they work great.

Thanks for all the help.

I'm new with all this torrent stuff so I have another question.

I tried unraring the files and it asks for a password. Did I download a bad file or is it something I have to change in my system?

(I managed to download winrar with the key)

No, it means that someone password protects the winrar files. Unless the someone included a txt with the password, you probably should find another.

What is asking for a password, the Winrar or the torrent file that you downloaded???

Look, if you want us to help you have to be a tad more detailed in your questions, please.

Oops sorry.

I open WinRAR and the file show up as an MPG file. I right click and select 'extract to' and select a folder. A box pops up that says 'Enter password for the encrypted file:'

I thought it was the file, but it seems to pop up for the other files that I try to expand.

I tried looking for a setting on the WinRAR program but there is nothing that I can find for a password setting.

Thanks for all you help so far guys. TERB really does have a diverse collection of amazing members.

I'm just learning this computer stuff also so I could be wrong but it sounds like an MPEG file doesnt need to be opened with Winrar - you can just open it with Realplayer or WMP and it should play.
If its encrypted while you try to play it with Realplayer then you maye have a bad file and you should search the torrents for a new one.

Or try posting the name of the movie and someone will throw you a link for the torrent

It's like winzip. Someone put a password protect when they created the winrar files for MPG. Unless you can find the password, you won't be able to extract the file.

It's not a decompressed mpeg file, it shows that it's an mpeg file on the WinRAR program window. It's when I try to decompress the file into an mpeg file that I get the error message.

The movie that I was trying to download was Blade3, Aviator and Million Dollar Baby.

BTW what is a good Torrent site to find files?

first, it is an mpeg file that is rar'ed. you need to unrar the file for WMP.

You can play rar'ed files without unrar the files in VideoLan VLC media player. google that and install it.

try the password of the torrent site. www.torrestsite.org or whatever it is. Also try a password of the releasing group combined with the file name. POT.BladeII.CD1

if that doesn't work, it usually does, search the forums on the torrent site for the password. You're not the only one with the problem.

All those that I listed on this thread on the first page are excellent torrent sites.
Make sure you download Bitcomet and use it.
