And people wonder why I hate seafood. The oceans and lakes are the worlds toilet. That and the taste and smell is horrendous.

You need to go to the Sea Witch at St. Clair and Bathurst for some fresh Alaskan Halibut & Chips. :p

One of the higher rated fish & chips restaurants in Toronto is the Olde Yorke on Laird Drive, but although their food is quite good make sure you know the cost before you order. Three Months ago I ordered one halibut and chips and one halibut only for pickup. Cost was $32.and I was ok with that as the qualify was good. Last week I ordered the exact same thing for pickup and was charged $46. Ridiculous. Never going back.

I myself am not a big fan of seafood. Especially shell fish. It creeps me out lol.

But when I do have sea food, I like to have middle eastern or south asian dishes. They are flavourful and for the most part mask the fishiness with a lot of spices. Just be ready with some tums or gaviscon though if it gets too spicy :ROFLMAO:

In a place far, far away
Halibut House is the most disgusting and dirty place I’ve been to.

Person making fish (does even deserve to be called a cook) keeps a plastic bin full of water beside the deep fryer.

Person batters fish. Dunks hand into bin to wash hand. Goes about business. Next order comes in batters fish. Dunks hand in bin to wash off batter. Maybe the do that so when a new batch of batter is made they reuse that water because it has flour in it. Saves money by not needing to add more and flour.

Keep in mind sink is 10 feet away.

I'm surprised those places have not been fined for unsanitary practices yet.

that adds to the "flavour"...

my go to place is Jaspers in Pickering or Captain Williiams in Ajax...both good but Captain Williams has less greasy chips...but the cost of fish n chips has gone up A LOT!

Wow. That does seem excessive. I have seen some places not showing the cost of the halibut but rather posting "Market Price".

That means that you'll pay different amounts on different days depending on how much they get charged at the market. As such, they can't list the price on the menu because they don't know how much they'll have to pay. They'd need a chalk board.

Considering I paid 18 bucks for a whole chicken and saw that pack of chicken breasts were 34 bucks yesterday at loblaws and picked the "cheaper" option, I am not surprised.
