The bottom line is if you have 15 amp fuses or circuit breakers everything you are plugging in is rated to withstand the amperage provided by that breaker. If it's true that an outlet gets loose over time then as the contact points in the outlet degrade the ampload on that breaker will increase, when the ampload hits over 15 amps the breaker or fuse will trip or blow. The entire system is designed to work that way.

Look at your panel find the fuses or breakers that supply the outlets you are plugging into, if the fuse or breaker is rated for 15 amps you are good to go. If someone has put a twenty or thirty-amp fuse where a 15 amp fuse should be then you have a problem. Most kettles have a stove element in them and use a lot of loads so the cord getting warm is not abnormal.
