Hyundai Accent

[Reliable Driver]

I am looking for a car and hopefully it will last for 2 years without spending too much money fixing it at all the time. Many Japanese cars such as Civic, Accord, Corolla can run up to over 200,000 kms. How about Accent, is it reliable? I am looking for one with no more than 80000 clicks on it. How about Daewoo Lanos? Korean cars are cheap but not sure if it's reliable.

Stay away from Daewoo, all the dealerships were closed down with no warning. Apparently they are suing the company. If you need service for them you have to go to a GM dealership, and good luck finding parts.

Japanese...Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Suzuki, Subaru.
Korean....Kia, Hyundai, Daewoo.

I've been driving Honda's for over 20 years, and would buy another in a heart-beat.

If you're looking at only owning for 2 years, then you probably want a good re-sale value. That's where Toyota, Honda etc. make more sense, they cost more but you'll get a good buck down the road.

Korean cars used to be a joke in the 80's and 90's but have made major strides since then. Hyundai is slowly building a reputation of making reliable cars available at a good price with an excellent warranty. The two areas where they still lag rivals are in performance (slightly) and resale value (they are still plagued by their old reputation).
