Highly doubt CT will fold...they have good products and don't restrict themselves to clothing, shoes and appliances...in fact they Cater to 4 seasons, they match pricing...they have outdoors items, have you seen a lot of Princess Auto opening stores? if they are thriving, so will Canadian Tire...IMO Winners GAP Laura Guess Pier 1...will go first... Canadian Tire is affiliated with Sport Check, Staples Mark's work Wear etc. It's too bad. I will miss this store.
I remember saying to myself last year walking through Canadian Tire how is this store surviving. I bet at some point they are next to fold.
Let's hope they do it right. Now the Bay says they were able to realize so much cash this week that they may be able to put together a plan to keep six stores open; including 3 in the GTA.
The stores in the GTA that could remain open are Yonge/Queen, Yorkdale, and Richmond Hill.
Hudson's Bay hopes to save six stores, begin liquidation process Monday
-IMO they need to downsize and get rid of items that doesn't sell...How many brands of jeans do they have to sell? Keep it few...Levis, Polo Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss should do it.Let's hope they do it right.
- Fix the escalators.
- Stock the shelves and racks
- Hire staff to assist the customers
- Level up the housekeeping
- Define their target market and merchandise the stores accordingly
In other words, look like they're in business...
As my late grandfather used to say "You can't sell from an empty wagon."
Was their today. I was hoping their F1 clothing would be on sale, nope. The escalator in the Bay in St. Catharines has been broken for the last six months. I guess they had no money for repairs.
Like that idea. Make them an offer, they'd probably take it.The only thing I would really want from the Bay is 1 of those brass plaques outside of their bigger stores like the 1 on Queen street.
Gotta figure it would be worth some good coin.

Lots of things on sale but still pricey. Maybe try again next week.
You can't compare Bay to Cantire. People actually shop at Cantire. Cantire also has easy return policy of 90 days. It's too bad. I will miss this store.

Winners is thriving. They're not just a clothing store like GAP and Laura. Gap is only selling Gap labels. Winners doesn't sell just one label.Highly doubt CT will fold...they have good products and don't restrict themselves to clothing, shoes and appliances...in fact they Cater to 4 seasons, they match pricing...they have outdoors items, have you seen a lot of Princess Auto opening stores? if they are thriving, so will Canadian Tire...IMO Winners GAP Laura Guess Pier 1...will go first... I'm not familiar with the legal process of bankruptcy but is it the legal system, the judge, that makes Hudson Bay keep these specific stores open? Or for that matter any stores open? And with so few stores remaining what are the chances of success now with limited buying power. As of now, they're keeping 6 stores including the Bloor/Yonge flagship.
It is the judge who has the power to approve the restructuring plan, and allows them to keep the six stores open. He does not force them to.I'm not familiar with the legal process of bankruptcy but is it the legal system, the judge, that makes Hudson Bay keep these specific stores open? Last time I bought anything from Bay was over 10 years ago and only because I had a promotional credit.
Probably explains why certain brands such as Hugo Boss chose to pull all their merchandise back.I heard lots of people were just taking things and walking out without paying. None of the employees care because they're all losing their jobs. 100% discount.
