And in true Rush form, he made it pretty clear that what really concerned him is if the FCC under a democratic president decided to act like the FCC under Bush. I'm not a fan of Howards. Never found him all that entertaining, really. But this whole fiasco wouldn't be so troublesome if not for the facts surrounding it. 1)Stern gets booted within weeks of going from being pro Bush to anti Bush. The content of his show, meanwhile, hasn't changed from what it was for the past 10 years. 2)Clear Channel, a major media outlet (isn't the media supposed to be neutral?) arranged pro war rallies that were as much pro Bush rallies as anything else. 3)Clear Channel refused to play Dixie Chicks music after they criticized Bush. Not sure whether or not they play the Dixie Chicks to this day. 4)Clear Channel "fires" Howard Stern, yet hires Michael "Go get aids and die" Savage. I put fires in quotes because to my knowledge he was only, to this point at least, suspended. 5) The owner of Clear Channel just happens to be the guy who bought the Texas Rangers from George Bush. 6)Other radio talkers who work at Clear Channel stations have been demoted or fired for speaking against George Bush. 7)This administration isn't beyond outing a CIA operative to further it's political agenda, so i'm sure they wouldn't blink at destroying Howard Stern's career through the FCC by coming down hard on Viacom...the outlet still running Stern. Sorry, while you can argue that Howard may or may not cross the line on occasion, this stinks to high heaven.

The FCC decided to raise the fines for infractions against there codes of conduct. It went from $27,500 per incident to $275,000 per incident PER STATION. Last I heard it was now going up to $500,000 per incident, per station. Do the math. Howard does 3 thing that violate the code, so 3 x 500,000 X 12 stations (or so) =18 million dollars!! hard for infinity or clear channel to sneeze at. Plus they can now pull there licences for their stations. That would be the stake in the heart of the networks. This is why Clear channel dropped Howard Ster and fired Bubba The Love Sponge. (Clear channel shock jock that started the mess with a $750,000 fine) I have also heard rumors of other morning people being let go to be "on the safe side".
The FCC has gone power mad! And it is a very slippery slope.
If the FCC keeps going, terrestrial radio will become very boring. Thank god for XM radio! It's pretty sweet!

Janet's tit, which was not that impressive to begin with. Congress is giving the FCC a load of *hit for not doing it's job. So has the pendulum swung too much the other way, sure it has. Unfortunately for most sensible people Howard will be back (not like he's really gone, we've got him in Cincinnati).

There was a great article in the saturday star noting the coincidences of Clear Channels affiliation to the Bush's (G Dubya and Sr.) Thee article goes on to say that Clear Channel yanked Howard in key voting states such as Pittsburgh and Florida due to Howards discontent towards GWB's push to rule from the religious right, and the ar etc. (Coincidence?? I think not)

. . . turn him off!!! Haven't heard him much since he left the Toronto market but there are times he's been brilliant and times he's been more of little naughty schoolboy.
He certainly makes you think (just look at THIS debate) and, despite some of the juvenile stuff, has respect for women. You've really got take him in small doses.
Bottom line is I find some fundamential religious right-wing broadcasters more offensive than him.
Perhaps they should be forced off the air!!

Interesting that he was fined last week for a three year old discussion about the meaning of sex terms (blumpkin, baloon knot), when Oprah had a recent explicit discuss on her show about similar terms ( tossed salad, rainbow party) and there seems to be no problem with her doing it.

I used to listen to him on Q. when they dumped him, i downloaded his shows from usenet. finally, i came to the conclusion i was wasting my time. he's 100% repetitive. if he didn't shock sometimes, nobody would listen. clear channel dumped him. that's their right. they own the station. they could hire and fire whomever they want. if he was really serious about getting his opinion across, he would take just a small bit of those millions he makes every year and start yet another internet station. many people do it with far less resources than he has.
