You absolutely did the right thing too, and it should even be routine to check for that I feel like

Heck, I like me some DATY, but I look and smell before I bury my face in there. Heck, I try to look and smell before anything else comes in contact as well. (A little natural vagina smell is fine, pleasant even, especially if there is some hair to go with it, but...) It's just good policy.
