Second, Johns in the US get arrested all the time. Just watch the show COPS. There are undercover stings all the time, and one arrest is all it takes to ruin your criminal history, and make you unemployable.

My girlfriend's ex boyfriend was set up. Police set up a fake ad for sex. The guy responded, and was arrested. They charged him, but he went back to his country rather than face the music. As a result, his life is ruined. If he enters the US, he faces immediate arrest. He cannot enter Canada. Even if he did, he can no longer find a good job.

I'm not sure what bill C36 will do here in Ontario, but believe me, the US is TOTALLY different than Canada when it comes to tolerance of people hiring prostitutes.
This was not very reassuring to read, at all :(

I will assume people who no longer post reviews have been caught by the authorities.

Red House over yonder.
Reviews are already less explicit. Open your eyes. If TERB is now safe in the mythical offshore land of "cc" it could evolve into an identity verification service as a few boards have done in the US. There is a vacuum to be filled and a need to be served.

There could be a swift test case that eliminates this potential witch hunt and dark age. Escorting thrives in places in the US where law enforcement is less than enthusiastic and these verification services are a useful tool for hobbyists and escorts.

Otherwise I would expect TERB to go the way of MyRedbook in California. As a longtime TERBITE, this would be a great loss.

Hope for a swift legal challenge and try not to be the guy who has a case in history books named after him.

I will stay as a member, but will no longer participate in reviews.
You don't get it ! What I'm saying, I'm not going to stop what I'm doing, but will stay silent until the dust settles.
Which of these definitive statements is your actual position?

I get around.
I refuse to accept that Harper and MacKay have the authority to interfere with any sexual activity or discussion of such, that I have with other consenting adults.

Maybe just to be on the safe side, specific reviews & supporting posts can be phrased in the past tense, taking the form of sharing a reminiscence from a time prior to C36 comming into effect?

As far as I know there is no section the bill which criminalizes recollections of paying for sexual services, or making it the subject of erotic stories.

No change for me because of C-36. I've been on a bit of a hobby respite recently for reasons unrelated to C-36 ... I simply seem to have lost my mojo. But the fact of the bill won't change my activities, at least not unless I see reason to adjust.

It seems that people have visions of law enforcement massing their resources for a colossal raid and sweep the morning after the bill may pass, and perhaps the government rounding up a bunch of hackers to go through board reviews and track down people who have posted. Both of those scenarios seem very unlikely to me. Why in the world would this suddenly become a top law enforcement priority?

Cops want the streets to be safer and for there to be minimal disturbance and maximal peace. As an analogy, there are speed limit laws on the books, but they are not enforced to the exact km/h ... law enforcement nails the extreme speeders, those who are a potential harm to others. So, maybe there will be extra crackdown on streetwalkers or something, but it is probably not worth the time, effort, or cost to target licensed MPs or discrete SPs.

Say C-36 passes. I will have no discomfort or pause visiting a licensed body rub establishment. Those places pay fees, and local governments want those fees. Unless there are complaints against an MP I think it will simply be live and let live. Especially in a large liberal city like Toronto. Perhaps certain municipalities will see fit to crack down, but I've only lived in Toronto in Canada, so that's all I can conjecture on.

I will of course be observant if the bill passes, but until I see evidence I won't let it affect me.

Well-said. There needs to be a balance in (our) perception between these end-of-the-world doomsday scenarios and reasonable precaution.
