You might get a warning email from ISP, but at some point it might turn into litigation against you. Why bother with that?

Most of what you're downloading is available legally anyways. Is all that risk worth it to save a few bucks per month?

Streaming is different though. It's download only. Hard to prosecute such offence.

I'm not collecting much of recent TV. ISP warnings are usually for 'streaming only' shows; the one I got was for an episode of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, which is exclusive to Amazon Prime, I believe.

There are a lot fewer members than there used to be, and a more limited selection of files, but WinMX is still a great source for Movies and some TV series.

With bit torrents, a file is broken up into pieces, ("chunks") usually 256 kb - 2 MB, that are dowloaded in a random sequence. You can download from anyone who has a chunk that you don't have, and you can upload to anyone who needs a chunk that you have. When you have all of the chunks, they're assembled in sequence to complete the file. If no one is sharing one or more chunks, no one can complete the file, the full size of the file will be allocated in disk space, and the partial file cannot be opened.

On WinMX, you download from one or more other users who have some or all of a file you want. All downloads are linear, from the beginning to the end. Sharing files yourself isn't mandatory, but many users with good files will block the upload to anyone who is sharing nothing of interest.

With WinMX, you have discretion over the maximum number of current uploads, but you can also manually start anyone waiting in the queue, if they want a small file, or they are a friend. Similarly, you can cancel an upload manually, for any of a number of reasons, or you can ban a handle from downloading from you.

You can browse the shared libraries of any other member by right clicking their handle when it appears in search results, upload or download queue, or in a chat room.

Private messaging is available, and is used for things like negotiating trades. More common is to browse the shared files of someone downloading from you, and select something of theirs. If your download from them doesn't start, you can manually terminate the upload to them, and try to negotiate a trade through messaging.

WinMX will not appeal to anyone who wants their file immediately, or someone who deletes a digital video file after viewing it.

The Movies and TV shows available now are usually DVD or BluRay rips. Current TV is usually identical files as on a public torrent site; older series usually from DVD. Fifteen years ago, .mpg files sourced from TV to VHS, compressed with TMPGEnc, ("Tsunami MPEG encoder"), were very common.

WinMX is probably the best place to download Movies made more than 5 years ago. There's also a lot of porn files, but many of the file names are in Japanese, and the guys sharing it usually have 100+ plus people waiting in the queue ahead of you.

I had a year of free dialup Internet from AOL in 2000. The only thing I ever got from Napster was Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer, sung in Japanese.

But now a lot of the older machines won't work because they want a newer version of android. Always get a box with the highest version of android.

For the love of God, you would think Rogers would wake up and try to be more competitive with their pricing. People are flocking to streaming services and dropping cable like there's no tomorrow. Rogers basic ignite pack cost $125 a month plus tax. The channels you get are ridiculous. Its the equivalent of having basic cable back in the day. Your basically looking at 150 plus tax a month for a package that's even worth your while.

You'll get things faster from a torrent, but there are a lot of good video files being shared on WinMX for which no active public torrent exists. Most of the people on there have been using WinMX for almost 20 years, and the past fifteen in isolation. They get new material from torrents, and share it or trade it on MX. WinMX is also a community, with chat rooms based on different topics. Only a small portion of the files being shared appear in the search results; you often find hidden gems by browsing someone's shared library.

I'm doing really well, because most of my shared files are brand new to WinMX, so people who have the good stuff frequently want something from me, so we're in each others' upload and download queues simultaneously often. Having used MX extensively from 2003 to 2006, I'm a returning prodigal son, as opposed to a noob. Making friends with the people who have files you want helps a lot; they might otherwise not browse your shared library. The majority of users leave MX running 24/7, so I often get several smaller files from the same handle in the middle of the night.

Movies I've acquired since May 5 on WinMX, including downloads in progress that I'll have by tomorrow morning::

Cat-Women of the Moon, Doc Savage: Man of Bronze, Queen of Outer Space, Mudhoney, Showgirls, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Paprika, Colossus: The Forbin Project, Grand Prix, Nineteen Eight-Four, The Kentucky Fried Movie, Bolero, The Lover, Mandingo, Fire Maidens from Outer Space, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Last Tango in Paris, Black Emanuelle, Amazon Women on the Moon, Caged Heat, Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!, Coffy, The Ruling Class, Top Secret!, and Caligula. Many of these movies will be viewable online and be downloadable through links posted here in The Lounge in a thread I haven't started yet. I think softcore classics, bad 1950's science fiction, sexploitation and blaxploitation movies will be very popular with the TERB audience. I only have to upload them once to an online storage site, and download bandwidth will come from that site.

I also got all of the Fleischer Superman Cartoons, all of Star Trek: The Animated Series, the first six episodes so far of The Green Hornet, and the first 10 so far of Search, an early 70's science fiction show, and a lot of miscellaneous short videos. WinMX is also great for .mp3 audio tracks; you never find those on torrents anymore, and all the sites that used to host them seem to have closed in the past couple of years.

I wouldn't rely on MX for all the files I want to download, but it's a good supplementary source for what I can't get somewhere else.

Guys, check this one out for free, new movies and latest tv shows - levidia.ch.

Not complicated at all and no need to use a vpn or deal with torrents.

Been using it for years!
