At my organization we block all traffic that is encrypted or password protected without our knowledge. We also have IP phones. Everything is recorded, even phone calls.

Many companies blocks all access to external mail sites like Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. These are a source of viruses not wanted in the corporate environment. They also just don't want people reading personal mail on company time. That's what home computers are for.

I've used programs running on my USB key to bypass internet security at work. But I'm very cognizant that the IT department can find out what I'm doing if they really want to so I don't do anything really stupid (like surfing porn sites or checking TERB!).

Get a non-work blackberry or iPhone with a data plan.

Hopefully they are only recording business phone calls,
And if not, hopefully they have a pre recorded message that the line is being recorded, or they can get in a lot of trubble.

Again, company phones are for company business. They can do what ever they want.

Because unless you secure the computer you're using, which is probably grounds for a firing, it's still not safe.

If its going through the companies network, they can probably intercept what you are doing.... there are many ways and means... safest way is as mentioned before, a blackberry, iphone or windows smartphone...
