How to remove from internet explorer

Hey Guys,

Everytime I type www.t..... the "autofill" feature brings up the option to go to www.teenkelly.com.

This is what I've tried to do to remove it with no success....

1) using ad-aware and spybot
2) deleting the history
3) deleting all cookies
4) deleting all temp files

what else can I try?

Its not a big deal since I live alone but if a neice or nephew comes over I don't want that to pop up if they happen to want to type in a website that starts with www.t.

You need to clear your AutoComplete.

Go to Tools...

Then Internet Options...

Click on the Contets tab...

Click on AutoComplete

Click on both Clear forms and Clear Passwords

3. Click Control Panel
4. Double Click the Add/Remove Programs Icon
Search the list of programs installed on your computer and select the ones that look suspicious. Reboot after each program selected and repeat until satisfied you have eliminated the culprit.

It's always great when you get such quick responses to problems.

Unfortunately, neither option worked.... tried clearing the autocompletes and looking for suspcious files (couldn't find them).

Well for now I'll just disable the autocomplete that'll at least avoid the embarassment of a guest accidentally finding a site that I visited.... ironically I only visited the site and did not purchase a membership.

Dont worry about it -- noone purchases memberships at all the sites they visit. Too many free samples.

I won't be in front of the computer in question for a few days but if anyone has any other suggestions incase this doesn't work.

To recap whats been attempted....

1) clearing history, cookies, temp files, autocomplete (forms and passwords)
2) check computer with ad-aware and spybot
3) checked add/remove file section for fishy looking file(s)

4) to be attempted ASAP..... checking if it has been added to my favourites folder..... can that be done without my knowledge even though I am the only user in the last while?

Anyways, thanks to all for the tech support at the very least we're all learning some of the finer points about covering our tracks on the computer!

A few other suggestions ...

Clear the "MS Internet Cache"
Clear all subscriptions

If you have visitors, disable autocomplete, and set some Ratings so the browser will not go to sites with explicit sexual content

create a guest account for guests so they don't have access or change your personal settings.
Dont make the user name guest and password guest .

Start Menu Tab > Customize button
Advanced > Recent documents > Clear list button

This was close. Follow the same instructions and un-click the box that says "Use Autocomplete for Web Addresses".

You can remove individual URL's you've typed (if you really don't want to arouse suspicions...)

1. Close Internet Explorer
2. Go to start > run
3. Type regedit, click ok
4. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
5. Delete the offensive entry(s) from the right side

I have an app called Purge IE, which has a free 15 day trial, and is quite inexpensive to buy. you can set it to delete all temp files, recent doc pointers, cookies ( although you can select cookies to protect) typed urls, stray urls and visited sites. One click and it's done. I run this every end of day. I also have my IE settings at 0 days history. Works great!

Download the History Eraser software, you can use it free for 15 days, then it expires.
I had same problem, it will erase nav bar history.

one more alternative to clear the teenkelly mess

As stated before, clear the AutoComplete, then maybe even disable AutoComplete entirely, just for a time.

But most importantly,

all you need to do is hand-type a number of www.T -beginning websites to send dear old teenkelly down the chart and off of the display.

www.time.com
www.temperature.com
www.typo.com
www.trace.com


etc. etc. etc.

If you merely click on entries, they won't show up in your list, you need to TYPE them out in your address bar.

BTW Goober thanks for that tip re: formating c. Good thing I know a few tidbits about computers because I went through hell when I swapped out my old harddrive and installed a DVD burner on my own.

the weird part about my problem is that I never typed in the address in the first place nor cut and paste it into the address line.

Boy will they be pissed next time they come back and their autocomplete has been deleted!
