Or if you must pay attention to them, stick your finger out to them, pointing at them, then laugh uproariously. Helps if there are a few of you in the car, get them to laugh too. What they want above all is to be noticed, for you to be angry, so that's exactly what you DON'T want to give them. They want you to KNOW that they are angry. If you instead don't react, treat the whole thing as just someones amusing antics, like they are a paid court jester, a clown, a children's birthday party musician, there for your personal amusement, they will be totally whipped.

Absolutely, you could, and most of the time it would be enough. But the cars you see stopping during amber/red and red/red aren't the problem, they're following the rules. Plus the 'hurry up' side has to include those idiots that get stuck in the intersection freezing up traffic when the far lane is full

Oh good grief...If a car/truck/bike/airplane...is going to blow a light..then one does not go the mili-second the light changes.

However..If it is safe...there is no reason to wait around for the light to make it half way through its cycle.

Actually the HTA does say that you should be in the right lane except to pass or turn left... so if you're cruising in any other lane you are breaking the law even if you're doing under the limit.
