I lost 40 pounds doing that Atkins-y shit buttercup is advocating. I cut out ALL bread pasta, potaters, and rice. Still ate plenty other than that and it worked like a charm. Gained it all back when I decided "fuck it, I like bread and pasta!".

5 Low fat dairy draws fat out of body

Biggest load of shit I have read in a while.
no it is not

i meant to say

dairy calcium prevents fats in undigested food from being absorbed so you poo the fats

it binds with fats in your food in the small intestine in such a manner we cannot digest them

What are some examples of low fat dairy that exhibit this effect?

Thanks - KK

So the best solution would be a dairy product high in calcium and low in fat. Any ideas?

they mention low fat milk, cheese and yogurt

as to whether you should have these with dinner, before dinner, before bed or otherwise they do not say

but we need fats in our diet and this is not discussed

It's not just "atkins-y shit". Let the canada food guide be your inspiration - but cut out potatoes, rice, bread, and pasta.

If you're 230 lbs and you eliminate potatoes, rice, bread, pasta from your diet, you'll get down to 180 lbs in 6 months or less. If you allow yourself 1000 grams a week, it'll take a year.

If you allow yourself to go back to eating quantities of you-know-what (just a little extra makes no difference, ok?) you'll be back at 230, or worse, within 2 years.

Eat less + move more = weight loss.
Do some research on how to eat properly and your weight loss accelerates.
Do more strenuous exercise and your weight loss accelerates.

Unfortunately, not every program is a great fit for everyone, but the aforementioned equation does apply across the board.

And yes, it's all much easier said than done.

Eat less and exercise a little. You don't need any special diet or exercise program.

It's not rocket science, it really isn't.

I say "Atkins-y shit" not to be dismissive, but to note that it is the cornerstone of the Atkins diet. Imma believer, dammit. It worked for me. ...right up until the "fuck it, I lurve bread" moment. :D

But there are medical conditions that can make it very difficult, no matter how much one wants it. I have a friend who battled her weight for decades, without success. Turned out she had an undiagnosed thyroid issue...once that was properly treated, she was able to lose weight and keep it off.

Also some medications can cause weight gain.

Just sayin' that not everyone who is fat, is fat because they don't want to be thin.

Drink LOTS of Water!!!! Often when people think their hungry, it really means their thirsty. North Americans don't know how to tell the difference. So when your feeling like a snack, DRINK WATER. Don't drink pop, too much sugar, teaches your body to store fat.

Stay away from breads, cereals and sugar. Eat only veggies that are green and grown above the ground like Romane Lettice, eat 6oz of protein for each meal like steaks or fish. No fruit juices.

I've had major ( and I mean major ) thyroid issues for several years. It's incredibly frustrating.
My new ( and brilliant )doctor has recently recommended that I move towards a paleo/ primal diet. He ran some non standard tests that showed some stuff that's in fact pretty scary. According to him, a large portion of people with thyroid issues also have gluten sensitivity.
Paleo/ primal eating is sort of Atkins-y but with more of a focus on whole food or foods with one ingredient as opposed to low carb. This doesn't mean eat as much bacon as you'd like ( :( ) but that an apple for instance is a food with one ingredient....or steak....or broccoli etc...
Fruits and veggies should be organic and eggs and meats should be grass fed.
It's an interesting concept...

Been said before but basically avoiding dairy, gluten and refined sugar helped me to lose over 25 pounds.

Excercise is good but diet is more important in that the amount of excercise you have to do to burn calories vs eating less calories is ridiculous......that;s just my opinion. Not drinking a coke is much easier than an hour of cardio. :D

Planning your meals ahd grocery shopping is huge. Otherwise you'll just grab what's easily available. Cooking to have leftovers also helps as it's nice to have some meals that you can reheat and eat on the go.

Realizing that there will be plateaus and at those points it's time to look again at what you are eating to see if there is something you can improve.

Doing it in stages is also helpful as completely overhauling your diet can be daunting.

i don't know... i am not an expert, but the last 2 weeks i've somehow managed to shed 8 lbs. the only intervention i did was actually get to the gym every other day and work out really hard to the point of exhaustion to get rid of some stress. ....
I'd be willing to guess that you are younger than 28. Either that or you've lost water weight. As you get older, the pounds get harder to drop just through exercise.

for sure you're right. some percentage of the population have other issues. without checking, i doubt if that explains more than a very few. same as "big-boned". and i'm not suggesting everybody be "thin". the "normal" area in between is fine too.

Actually, the only way to lose weight is for the body to burn more calories than it absorbs.
That may be true but you're going to lose more weight faster if you cut out bread, rice, potatoes, pop etc. Take two groups of overweight people, feed them the exact same number calories per day. One group eats more bread, potatoes and rice, the other eats primarily chicken, meat, fish and vegetables. Guaranteed the group that eats the carbs will not lose as much weight.

This is a good documentary.
