Just thought I'd look to The Brotherhood for suggestions:

1) I have an old tube TV that still works but no longer require. I called the Salvation Army but they only gave me a non-committal run around. Any other suggestions?

2) An extra car that's been sitting in my garage since winter and I no longer drive. If someone can come tow it away and I get a few $, I'm fine with that. Any services that provide that? I'm sure there must be.

Thanks in advance for any information.

No one wants those tube TVs anymore. Just put it at the curb on collection day.

1) Donate the car to the Kidney Foundation for a tax write off.

2) Do not give anything to www.freecycle.org Last year I changed all my window AC units to the the units that duct heat out the window. I had 3 AC units to give away. I had calls from people wanting it to be delivered to them. I had calls from people asking me to install the AC in their windows. I had calls from people telling me that they will send a truck to pick up the AC units. ( I suspect these people will resell the units )

Indeed, most charitable dontation type places are even truning these away. They are worth almost nothing, and take up a lot of space!

Gentlemen, a donation receipt is not a 'tax write-off', just a receipt for a charitable donation which earns you a tax credit. Just saying.

As far as scrapping an old vehicle, call and get quotes from various scrap metal dealers or tow truck companies.

do what i do. break into the homes of poor people and leave the stuff there for them to find. (note- just leave the extra car on their driveway)
