Everyone knows Jared, the former fat guy who used to be used in those Subway ads. According to Jared, if you eat at Subway for every meal you'll lose the pounds, so I did my own experiment, kind of like that guy from Supersize Me.

I have a very strict diet and exercise routine, and I very rarely eat sugar, white bread, white rice, or any simple carbs. I decided to try the Subway diet for a week, for every meal except breakfast, so lunch and dinner. For breakfast I still continued to eat my All Bran Buds with Psyllium. Anyways, I always got the 9 grain bread (which is total crap by the way, it's basically as bad as white bread), and always only had a 6 inch sub for every meal. I got a variety of subs, everything from steak and cheese, to cold cut combo, to sweet onion chicken teriyaki, I had 14 six inch subs in total.

Besides making me feel nauseous, I gained 5 pounds during the week. I don't gain weight easily, I'm 6'2", 180 pounds, and I've been at this weight for years. Only after I started eating Subway everyday I started to gain weight. I stopped and lost the 5 pounds, but it just goes to show you the effects of eating a foot of essentially white bread everyday and all the other crap that Subway serves.

That reminds me of the Saturday Night Live spoof of those commercials, where the guy in the ad said something like, "The only thing healthy about me is my appetite."

Jared ate a 6" turkey sub and a bag of baked chips for lunch and a 12" veggie sub for dinner, with extra veggies and no cheese, oil or mayo as his diet,

Not defending Subway food as being health food, but you didn't follow the diet Jared did.

I think I ate healthier than Jared, I ate a third less bread than he did everyday, the bread is what makes you fat. This guy must have been running a half marathon everyday to lose weight after eating so much bread everyday.

There's all kinds of things like this happening, I saw a woman who said she ate at McDonalds for a month straight and lost weight. It's all about the menu choices you make and how many calories you eat.

Calories in. Calories out. If you were gaining weight, and it was more than water (and it might have been water--you ate a lot of salt) then you were taking in more calories than you were expending.

Someone eats all their meals at Subway, gets fat, complains, then finds out they weren't following the "right" Jared diet. Whoops!

you have problems... get off your butt and do some physical activity. There was a guy who ate McDonalds for three straight months, every meal and didn't get fat because he worked out often. You can get lean and lose weight on almost any diet you're on while you'll get fat on any healthy diet if you only eat and do no work. period

Everybody is so hung up on carbs nowadays.

Wonder how much fat and calories are in those steak and cheese, not to mention the fat and calories in the cold cuts and sugar in the teriyaki sauce. According to Mervyn, Jared had way less calories and fat with the turkey and avoiding the oil, cheese and mayo.



I still say, clories in must be less than calories out.

Read the first sentence in the second paragraph of my post where I say I have a very strict diet and exercise routine.

since you ate such a regimented diet, how many calories did you have daily? if it varied, then weekly. you ate too much. it's simple.

Of course Jared lost weight when he started eating only Subway subs. Regardless of which sub he chose it would still likely have been only a portion of what he was eating before that.

Subway is misleading and disgusting. Tons of chemicals in their breads. All that sodium nitrite from the cold cuts which is the main contributor to that high sodium.

Yuck.

Do me a favour. Try eating the exact same thing for a week or two but substitute the bread for lettuce in the same form but as a salad. They will do this for you. Change nothing else in you diet and report back in a week or two. I know what will happen!

I'm guessing Jared started at a heavier weight than JamesDouglas as well. As mentioned, the OP's strict diet and exercise regime causes more calories burned than taken in with the 'modified Subway diet' tried.

listen, you can eat cake only and lose weight. all comes down to how many calories u take in. now of course there is proper ways to diet sur eI could lose weight eating twinkies only but say goodbye to my health and muscle mass
