you can indeed get herpes from daty, you can also get gonnorhea and chlamydia. you cannot get hpv orally and 80% of sexually active people have hpv. the best way to stay safe is to get tested frequently. sex with anyone (oral or otherwise) is not without risks and many sti's are highly treatable.

Syphliis is rare at the moment and chlamydia is very hard to transmit orally. Only you know your risk tolerance and making a judgement is in your hands. That said, get tested regularly if you are dining regularly at the cross roads.
I'm not sure on what basis do you refer the mouth as a very inhospitable place for viruses and bacterias. It's moist, warm with a steady supply of nutrients. Seems to me like the perfect nest for them.
