Have had a few instances where people claimed that they did not receive a text from me or that I did not receive one from them. At first I thought it was a convenient excuse. But now I am wondering if it's true.

What has been your experience?

O M G... I was JUST talking this over with my brother. I think the cell service is really poor lately. I dont mean customer service... but rather... THE service. Calls not going through (it rings after you dial, but the other person's phone doesnt ring). Same with text. sender phone said sent... but other phone never got it.

Anyone else seem to notice this trend lately?? or is it just us??

yup.. I have texted my wife in the morning and actually been with her in the afternoon when it finally came through.

Don't have any proven cases of not getting them at all tho' just a lot of delayed ones.

Even local texting/SMS is not that relaible from GTA to Aurora, usually my text get lost in cyber space and when i get to know it makes me really fusterated, these day's non-receipt of text messages is a common with Rogers Server, as i use Rogers as my sever company, i have complaint them several times, and i get the same answer that the particular text message was duly sent from their end, same is the case with foreign countries where people dont receive text, rather my VOIP is more reliable than Rogers SMS System.

I had the opposite experience last night during the storm. The Rogers network was down and I couldn't call my friend to see if she was OK. However, I text her and she recieved it, so text was getting through but not voice. Go figure.

I only use text when I am trying to contact someone with a long distance area code because it is cheaper than voice. Seems to be working fine and timely.

Do you ever send text to a landline phone? Pretty neat, eh.

If you have a Fido iphone (and maybe Rogers) you might not be able to text people who have phones with Telus....

I just got a new iphone and a new contract with Fido (switched from Telus) and I noticed that I couldn't text a friend who had a Telus account...I was also not getting and recieving texts from friends who had Telus Pay-As-You-Go phones....

I called Fido and they said they just realized there was a problem and looking into it but they think the problem was with Telus....

Could be Telus is getting me back for leaving them....

stinkynuts - despite the people in this thread who say it happens to them....it does NOT happen a lot. Yes it does happen but it is extremely rare that a text does not go through. I would suggest that if this happens to you a lot (ie. more than once a year), you are being lied to.

Probably not related but I thought it was interesting.... I was in an area that didn't have sufficient signal to call out, but I could send a text message... it just took a lot longer to leave my phone than usual. Must be the two systems work on different frequencies or bandwidths or something.

Most texts seem to go though right away, but I have certainly received texts after a many hour delay or sent one that did not get there as quickly as I would have liked.

I saw something about this on howardforums.com
I didn't read the thread, but I don't think you're alone with this issue to telus phones.

This has been happening a lot lately, I have had people tell me they have tried calling both my cells and both switch immediately to voice mail or indicate that the phone is turned off. I have been sitting in the same room as my friend and sending her texts and she has not gotten them, we did it to prove to her husband that she is in fact NOT getting her texts cause he thought it was a convenient excuse ;) Maybe it is the weather?

It is very much true, I send texts all the time, and sometimes you get double of the same message sent or received, and sometimes when the celluar carrier network is down the message is not received for hours .

I sometimes call to see if they received the text depending on what I am sending . like where r u messages or sending info to someone to call me.

All you can do is text and wait.

Are you guys sending text messages because you are too cheap to use voice? I generally use voice because I want to talk to the person real time on an interactive basis. The exception is long distance because of the extra charge.
