Filmmaker Peter Berg claims only one FDA person in the end approved Oxycontin, and subsequently got a cushy $400K a year job at Purdue Pharma.

In case you didnt know hundreds of thousands of people died of overdoses from this drug

Read "Empire of Pain". Great book documenting the rise of Purdue Pharma and the corruption surrounding the approval of oxycontin.

Apple + has a great series with Michael Keaton based on the book as well. Can't remember name of it at this moment but it was great.

I became obsessed with story of Purdue Pharma and oxycontin and the Sackler family. There's a lot of stuff out there on these and it is all very interesting.

Very useful drug under proper usage. Pharma and their doctors prescribing it for everything imaginable was the problem.
