How old should Grandfather be?

The father is only 15 himself, so having sex may/most likely have been perfectly legal.

This family should be compelled however to learn about contraception.

No, the baby's mother is 14 but it doesn't mention the age of the baby's father. I'm talking about the grandfather who is only 29. If he's 29 and his daughter is 14, that means he had her when he was 15 which isn't much better than his daughter having a baby at 14. I agree about them being compelled to learn about birth control though.

She had a baby at 14? Whoever her partner was should be charged with rape! That's below the age of consent. Yes, it is thoroughly disgusting. The grandfather isn't much better becoming a father himself at 15. Just more freaks of nature.
You are confused. The grandfather became a father at 14. The father of the infant is 15 and the mother is 14. The great-grandmother was 18 when she gave birth to the grandfather who is 29 now. There didn't appear to be any mention of the grandmother.

This should not be shocking; they are from Wales!

Deliverance had dueling banjos.

In Wales, this sort of thing is not unusual. In fact, this happens all the time.

I believe the issue of "what is the appropriate age to have children" should depend upon the individuals involved and whether the choice has been given adequate consideration. For example, I know of a very young couple having a child and they are very mentally mature and responsible -- more so than many older people that I know. I have little doubt that the values they live by will do them well. They have gone back to school to further their education. No doubt they have more burdens to juggle than the average student. At the same time though, they are much more serious at learning than many of the other students in their class. While that may not be the typical case (I don't have statistics at hand to know), my point is just that it is really hard to judge what is ideal without knowing the individuals and circumstances involved. Some people thrive when added responsibilities are thrust upon them. I don't see a problem as long as people think ahead, with good information, when they are making these choices.

Most Welsh girlfriends would be considered over the hill at 14. The life expectancy of your typical sheep is only 10 - 12 years. ;)

29 year old grandfather with his 14 year old daughter, and granddaughter. Maybe some of you already know about this story from before but I just thought I'd bring this up. Does this kinda disgust you? !

The man admitted he became a father back in 1996 when he was just 14.
He said his own mother, who is 47, is excited about the prosepct of being a great-grandmother. ‘She was 18 when she had me,’ he said. ‘She was shocked when I told her the news, but she is happy now.

Most of the Welsh are I'm sure like the neighbour who said "If it was my daughter pregnant so young I certainly wouldn’t be singing about it."

An excellent point. I wonder how the comments might differ if the races were different.

That said, I wonder if they don't have the right idea. Shouldn't women procreate when they're up for it (though I admit 14 is not optimal for women more like 18 - 28), rather than when they are older than optimal?

Anyways, glad it's not my life.

How old, you ask? Let's hope he lives to a ripe old age, at least long enough to see his grandchildren's grandchildren.

If they keep going at this rate, his grandchild could have a grandchild in another 28 years or so, so he could be a great grandfather before he is 60!

Here in Canada the young kids have figured out that an education is nessesary for a good future. The universities are at maximum capacity. Gone are the days of going to work at the factory after high school. There are no more factories. Having kids at such a young age will be a huge burdon.[/COLOR]
You post the most ridiculous stuff...

You mean a great-great grandfather before he is 60.
We knew what he meant!

So, if he has 4 kids, and they each have 4 kids, and they each have 4 kids, and they each have 4 kids...

He could have 256 great great grandchildren by the time he's 65. Hope they're not all named Tommy.

When I was in high school, there was a guy in my grade who had fathered three children by Grade 9. After the third one, his parents sent him to an all boys boarding school. He wasn't trailer trash; his family was quite affluent. He was probably the best natural athlete in the school, but he was more interested in 420 than team sports.
Grade 9 and 3 child support. That's a good start of his life.

So, what did he pick after he grew up? Business school or law school? How did he turn out?

It might take more than 500 years but... Life reflecting film.

Quoted for truth.

Although I think the social decline is more important than anything genetic.
