Flyers were very close to getting that cup during the Lindros years... they had three problems...
1) One was Clarke not adding a second scoring line... Forsburg didn't win those two cups on his own. I think he had some offensive help from some unknowns like Sakic and Drury.
2) A team called the New Jersey devils with Martin Broduere.
3) Clarke's refusal to accept that you need a goaltender to win the cup. Beezer past his prime, Burke, Boucher. I believe Forsburg had a little know goaltender named PATRICK ROY.
So no, I don't mind having had the opportunity to watch Eric Lindros in his prime virtually carry the Flyers for seven years. He was amazing to watch. If you look at the eastern conferance back then, and especially the division they played in, it's questionable that Forsburg would have even survived.
