Go habs go just doesn't have the same ring to it after last night. I am not normally a big sports fan but the habs have a certain presence for me that is always fun to watch. But the coach in my mind was the turning point for the whole series. Game 4 ahead 3 to nothing and the coach, THE COACH gets an unsportsmanlike penalty causing a 5 on 3 power play putting the soggy canes back in the game! Then it was all massively downhill.

I am just depressed today.

I guess i'll have to cheer for toronto...maybe...

You guys didn't book the day off work for the Stanley Cup parade did you?
Thats funny! No, no parade plans but we had started to map out the after-the-stanley-cup-night-win, pre-parade-day riot route. Seriously though a toronto - montreal series would have been something to look forward too.

We all know that Montreal has a lynch -mob mentality.
The coach is gone for sure. Everyone is expendable in Montreal .
this from a fan who's seen his team owners trade and sell the best players over too many years. forget seeing the Habs and leafs in a final, Toronto would kill to see the Leafs and ANYONE in a final

and the adage is true, come spring in Toronto, the leafs fall

(ok, you're right, I'm feeling sorry fo myself)

I'd love to see a Toronto/Montreal final.....but I'm getting old and impatient!!!
Unfortunately we never will see a Toronto / Montreal final since they're in the same division. Best we could ever get now is to see them battle it out in the Final Four.

Not that I'd complain if that ever were to happen.

I think we're all missing an important point here. The important thing is that the Habs are out.

I swear that I tried to make myself cheer for them, but after talking to a few of my friends who are Montreal fans, I realized that it was futile and embraced the hatred once again.

Go Leafs!!!!!!!!!!

Out yes-disappointed definatley!.... but they gave it a great shot, who thought they'd even make the playoffs. It was fun while it lasted and felt damn good in this city.
Theirrien messed up big time and showed his inexperience, Habs have made some good moves with Andre Savard and Gillett has opened up the walllet a bit , but coaching hurt us this time..the typical lynch mob mentaility of Montreal forced us to get rid of a great coach in Vigneault...he with Carbo might have made the difference.
Anyways go leafs!

i don't care if theirren stays or goes, but he shouldn't be fired.....he and andre savard and guy carboneau did wonders for the team...you can't just blame the coach for 2 bad games and a few bad goals by a young goaltender.

he should stay....they should all stay.

Unfortunately he let a 5th line player take a crucial face-off in their own end in overtime that cost them the game...
i think it was a rookie coach mistake. what really got me was the way montreal disintegrated in the last game. it looked like they ran out of gas. it was getting ugly to watch as the habs fell apart at the seams and let the canes dissect them.

if was a close game, it would have been respectable, but it was just too ugly to watch, so i shut the tv off... :(

rookie mistake? maybe. just like taking the penalty was a mistake. just like letting a 5th liner take a face-off was a mistake. the team didn't just run out of gas - they lost respect for their coach and stopped playing for him - that was apparent in the final 2 games

it's not a lynch mob mentality - it's a business decision. Toronto fans are so used to seing bad management hold on to unproductive players and coaches (since '67) that when another team makes the dramatic moves they try to impugn motive. for the sake of the players the coach has got to go - playes will understand that management is looking after their best efforts

Paul, if one of the women at your place kept making "rookie mistakes" how long would she last with clients [legitimate] complaints being for "you made the move"?
