How is the Finger print Apple 5C (or other phone) security working ?

I had a few reservations for the concept only because if it was backed up by a password back door - there can't be much improvement in security but it could be a time saver. I have the option of facial recognition for a security pass on the Galaxy but I found it a little gimmicky not to mention that it (as my S.O.) doesn't like my face first thing in the morning.

Is the finger security giving you faster access to the phone ?

Yes it does a lot faster as soon as you place your thumb or selected finger over the scanner it opens up the home screen like lightning quick speed and the connivence of making purchases in the App Store or iTunes you just scan your finger or thumb to make purchases.

The fingerprint scan is not stored in the clouds or on any apple servers it is stored within the phone itself so there no need for concern that your data going to be shared any servers when it comes to your fingerprint scan

Is there any proof of that, or is this what apple says?

I think it's a pretty safe bet. Apple doesn't have a history of deception, and if anyone discovered that they were sending it out (and someone definitely would eventually) it would be utterly devastating for them and their brand. On top of that there's no benefit whatsoever for them to have a database of fingerprints in the cloud, if anything it would be a massive liability with no real purpose.

Given all the other things that we "trust" big companies and governments to have (the contents of our email to Google/Yahoo, our credit card numbers to any shop we use it at, our personal and financial data to the banks, credit card companies, insurers, and so on) I think this ranks pretty low as far as things to be worried about ;)

It is a moot point because Apple's fingerprint sensor has already been proven to have security flaws by many different sources.

I don't think you need to have FBI level certified security for your phone. If you need a quick and reasonably secure access to your phone - it seems like a great approach to me.

I saw something on the net. 2 German Security guys. Got a fingerprint from some powder then put it on a tape. After that they scanned it in hi res. Aka made a 3d copy of some sort from the stuff on the tape and bingo............. They got into that person's phone. If there is a will there will always be away. Sorry don't have the link, try googling apple's fingerprint security breached. This was at least a month ago

If you HONESTLY believe that, you are kidding yourself.

It's no different than Google years ago saying it wanted to "do no evil" and only a few years ago Eric Schmidt (former CEO of Google) said some outlandish things about people's privacy, Google and searches.

If you swiped your finger onto your new iPhone, you can bet the NSA, FBI, CSIS have it on file or can access it at any time. It'll only be a few years before it becomes publicly announced. No different than the recent Snowden leaks spilling the beans on the government and email fiasco.

Okay so if you have an iPhone 5s and you don't have it connected to a network and you don't have it connected wifi it's just a dormant phone not connected to any form of a network and you set up the finger print scanner so where is that stored than ???? And for the snowdon leaks that's nothing new we were hearing about everything pretty much that snowdon leaked many years before snowdon leaked it

That why we have agency's dedicated to monitoring our citizens and other countries activities.

If you have nothing to worry about than why worry.

But if your that concern about it than I would recommend you totally disconnect from the Internet get rid of your cell phone all together get rid of your gps in your car get get rid of your transponder.

Get a new identity and just go on the lam if your that concern with being tracked.

How many surveillance cameras do we encounter every day more than we can count.

Let's face it big brother is always watching

So if that's the case than I guess IBM must of been doing the same thing with there finger print scanner on there think pads

Oh You better run and your my tin foil hat now intrinsic

Not that I particular trust corporations to safeguard your data, this sounds a little too conspiracy like (and not particularly in line with technological aspects).
