My family doctor recommend me to get 3 shots of HPV vaccine. Each shot causes $200. He claims that it will protect me from HPV infection for lifetime. For guys it will protect from genital warts and anal cancer. Just wondering if anyone got the vaccine ? And do you think it is worth it? Thanks

It IS effective on anyone, of any age.
It is only FREE in Ontario to those "high risk" individuals under 26 as they represent the largest risk/cost-benefit ratio for an expensive drug.

The vaccine's applied efficacy is reduced with age as we are more likely to have already been exposed to the particular HPV strains the vaccine immunizes us against.
The manufacturer has obtained approval for men and women up to 45 years old . It is NOTY to say that it is ineffective or unsafe for anyone older. It is just that the drug company has not applied for approval for those outside that age group.

Personally, I have received the HPV 9 vaccine although I am older than 45. I had to specifically ask my Dr to prescribe it "off label" after telling him that I do see sex workers and engage in unprotected oral (both ways).
I may, or may not, have already beed exposed, may or may not have immunity, may or may not have enhanced my immunity. But as I have never had any adverse effects from vaccinations, and have seen the results of diseases that vaccines protect against, I paid for the vaccine myself. I get vaccinated for just about anything there is a vaccine against! lol. I got the new Shingles vaccine too.

Hmm, I am 43, I do not see sex worker often, if I do, I use a condom. BUT, like you, I engage in unprotected oral (both ways). Should I get these 3 doses? $600 is nothing for extra protection.

I paid the $600+. a couple of years ago. The doc asked me why I wanted to get them at my age. He said,normally that is for someone who is planning on eating a lot of pussy. I nodded enthusiastically. Don't know about the anal warts thing, cause I don't roll that way. Don't know if I am protected, cause I got the shots kind of late in life, but acted on the idea that it might help. why not hedge your bets? Anyway, you came to the right place to ask for expert medical advice. Although I guess here we have a vested interest more so than elsewhere.
I also got the shot well past the recommended age of 26. I hobby so any additional passive protection (never have to think about it again after you get the shots), that I can use is welcome.

I've already personally spoken to an American Doctor who was asked to speak before Congress back in the late 1980's about a Health Care plan for America. He was asked to appear by the then Surgeon General. His daughter is studing Medecine at a prestigous University in America. He was asked if he gets any vaccines or flu shote. He replied " Hell No " !. He was also challeneged by his daughter who is getting the standard University indoctrination programming that all University students are receiving. He told her to provide a pier reviewed study that was not written by a Pharmaceutical Company and he would read it. Since she is studying Medecine she has access to all the studies. She came back five months later ans said..." she couldn't find a single one ". On top of that the US Congress passed a Law that made the Pharmaceutical companies exempt from any Lawsuit based on vaccine damage back in the 80's. But there is a little known Law that allows for parents of vaccine damaged children to sue in Civil Courts. To date the US Taxpayer has paid over $ BILLION in damages and this without the majority of people being aware this Law even exists.
