How do I post a private message?

I was having a fabulous time trying to post a private message this morning & I did click on the photo of the individual I waned to send a private message but I have no idea if I sent it off into space & beyond.

In related how to you put a converasation in to the trash that feature seems to be off now.

To delete a conversation you need to "leave" the conversation, then it will move it to Trash. It can be permanently deleted from there.

As a note, since its new I dont like the new inteface as I mastered the old, but I can see there are some positive changes. Maybe in time I like this new one best.
